Did your Traditional knife get a workout today? -Part II

After lunch I went over to my workshop (it sounds grander than shed).

I removed my home made vice jaw protectors and fitted the new ones.
Good choice a long magnetic strip holds them well a perfect fit, some only have 2 small magnets, thanks to Amazon reviews.
It holds my knife without scratching as you can see.

I removed the old ferrule carefully and cleaned off the tape I had used to secure it.
The new OEM fits much better and has a bit of give in it,very pleased with this simple thing.

Top tip dont get drawn into the Knipex world they are top tools but some people end up collectors for the sake of collecting.
Hang on a minute that sounds familiar who would do such a thing 😆

I love seeing that Opinel!

For some jobs its the perfect tool, scraping and the like.
Plus the fact it was given to me in Malta by a hardware store owner who used it on lots of jobs in his shop to get it down to this size.
Somethings are kind of beyond value.

There is no way the handle will fold though it is solid.😁

It must've seen a lot of use. Do you still keep it sharp and really use it as a blade? Or has it turned into more of a dull scraper.

This year I carved a few winter scenes to give as Christmas gifts. I used a Mora carving knife along with the pictured heavy duty Hultafors.
I also carved a tree image and block-printed our own Christmas cards. We straight caught the Christmas spirit in the basement workshop this year. 👊🎅👊

That's so cool... especially the Christmas cards. 🤠

Work in progress:

Started with a hand saw, then a draw knife and a plane, then switched to the Svord Peasant Knife (and my Pallares friction folder and an Imperial serpentine jack). I probably would have switched to the Svord sooner if I had realized just how well that thing makes shavings. I’m still not 100% convinced the Svord counts as traditional, though.

It doesn't have a thumbstud or a pocket clip.
