Did your Traditional knife get a workout today? -Part II

Mama Mia that looksa gooda pizza::D

Thanks Gevonovich, hope you are having better weather than me, cold rain turned to heavy slushy snow, wife requested my chicken chili, which was perfect for the Boker yellow bone I had in my pocket, at one time it was my only nice knife ( not including SAK, Opinels, and Laguiole ) I felt like a cowboy on the trail making my chili today

Mmmmm Mmmmm Good :)

Fantastic pics guys, great to see this thread rejuvenated ;)

"Today" being relative, here are a coupla workouts (one ongoing).

First, immediately after Christmas I fell ill with the flu. When hunger finally began to return, my entire imagination was filled with "soooooouuuuup." Wouldn't you know, 1) the only extant can of soup required an actual can opener (so many have poptops, now) and 2) somewhere in the influx of personnel and activities through the holidays my known can opener had been misplaced.

A fraught situation!

Then, lightbulb, and an old standby to the rescue:

(I had nowhere near the wherewithal to photograph the knife at the time, but when I went back to look for it these weeks later, there it lay, can opener still open.)

Whew.

Second, as the year turned new I started a new part-time job which may just enable me to equalize the balance between "What I've Driven" and "What's Driven Me." I am often switching license plates between cars; most of the dealer plates are magnet-backed, but many remain screws-only. On one of the first days, I was sent out onto a lot with a Dealer plate, two screws, and this penny:

A penny, with which to repeatedly affix and remove license plate screws. I ask you. I gave it a token try (note the 'chew' marks on the above penny) before grabbing my SwissTool from my car and used it the rest of the day, pocket brick and all.

A few days later, and the situation was appropriately remedied:

I've used the Radio Knife every workday since; I'm love carrying everyone here along with me in spirit, and putting a worthy tool to actual non-contrived use on a regular basis. :)

The Radio Knife is a super pattern. Should make short work of those screws. Or tyre slashing where needed.. then after all that work you can slake your thirst on some bottles...:D:thumbup:

Yesterday I used my Victorinox Cybertool 29 to completely disassemble and reassemble my laptop to replace the fan. Most useful knife I've ever owned.

You'll never guess, so I'll tell you- It's going to be a sphere. Maybe. Someday. Meanwhile I can't help noticing that Hobby Lobby has 2" birch balls for $1 each.
Knives are my flagship Boker and a nameless thin, tough blade that may or may not have started out this shape.

I never opened this thread until today. Three hours later, I think this could be " The Best Thread Ever". Thanks guys!!:cool:

Love the Boker and that folding ruler (as we always called them) reminds me of my father. Haven't seen one of those in a long time. Good luck with the sphere. It'll be worth far more than a dollar once you're done.

Thanks. That's actually my dad's better folding ruler. I have several in varying materials and ages, that I've bought when they were cheap enough because Dad would have.
I'll keep working on the walnut knob for my best hornbeam stick. The pilot study with a hobby lobby ball and a pear stick was encouraging.

Knife content: these old thin carbon kitchen knives are great whittlers:

The stainless ones on the right, not so much (only pic I could find).

Can I kill a thread or what? Now to dance on its grave.
I used the little Queen this morning to halve an English muffin, and later to cut the price tag off a Caddyshack woodchuck at an estate sale. Queen and Boker both did some bark-stripping last night. (Those teeny knives don't give you much to hang onto, but they're good for flourishing in public.)

I'm a little concerned- you guys haven't eaten since Wednesday?
