Did your Traditional knife get a workout today? -Part II

The Camillus BSA Whittler, which I won in r8shell's giveaway, has been helping me out with various chores today. Not least opening a securely sealed Montana Care Package! Thanks a lot Kris :)

(I'm pretty sure the socks are part of the packaging! ;) :D )

Edit - Oops! I missed a couple of things off the pic, this really cool Mexican coin, and my own little bit of Montana :)

I am also the new owner of the special penny below :) It was included with a lovely handwritten letter from Pertinux (pic to follow later -possibly)

...I started a new part-time job which may just enable me to equalize the balance between "What I've Driven" and "What's Driven Me." I am often switching license plates between cars; most of the dealer plates are magnet-backed, but many remain screws-only. On one of the first days, I was sent out onto a lot with a Dealer plate, two screws, and this penny:

A penny, with which to repeatedly affix and remove license plate screws. I ask you. I gave it a token try (note the 'chew' marks on the above penny) before grabbing my SwissTool from my car and used it the rest of the day, pocket brick and all.

A few days later, and the situation was appropriately remedied:

Yes, I got up early today to look at the 12" of snow that has graced my plantation, and decided to do some pre-prep work for this morning's breakfast. Sliced up some plantains....

...

....melted some butter in a pan and slow cooked these beauties....

...and voila....

Will be served with fried eggs, thick cut bacon, and some fine brew.

Anyone who has received a letter from Pertinux will know she probably has the most elegant handwriting on Bladeforums :)

I have to say that my favorite blade for food prep is the Wharncliffe. I used all three blades on this whittler to prepare my salad. All are sharp. The Wharncliffe may not even be the sharpest. But it is one great blade for slicing veggies. I suspect it can slice a whole lot more, but it's been a bit cold outside to try anything al fresco recently.

Have been using this little peanut that I just committed to carry for a full year to sharpen my pencil while doing job searching notes all day.

Opinel #12; cut up two Cara Cara oranges at work, one for 10:00 break, one for lunch break
Case CV Soddie Jr.; broke down Lexmark printer repair part boxes for recycling
Victorinox Cadet; I decided to challenge myself by using only the Cadet to fix a particularly troubling Lexmark E450 laser printer (it worked great too), the Phillips screws were handled by the can opener/small screwdriver blade, I was able to cut a gasket for the feed solenoid wit the knife blade, and the nail file/nail cleaner blade made it easy to unplug those horrid friction-fit cable head connectors from the board, then I used the same Cadet to unplug the friction connectors on a Zebra plastic card printer (prints membership cards/ID bages/debit cards), the available space to disconnect the headers is largely nonexistent, and my sausage fingers are no help, the file blade was perfect for this task
Case amber bone CV canoe; sat in my pocket and looked pretty, took it out to admire it from time to time...

Man that's a beautiful knife. Those are I assume wooden handles? And that salad, damn I just finished dinner but that sure looks good!

Had to open up a shotgun shell today to count the pellets so I could do some pattern percentages .
Obviously before the Cartridge got gutted :)

Lazy day around the house today, so nothing exciting. The spey Charlow opened the mail and chopped up a head of brocolli for a snack.

How does it handle wood? Have you tried whittling any wood with it yet?

Sometimes I like using my pocketknives in the kitchen, just for the fun of it...
Today the 2012 forum knife helped chopping up vegetables

My Queen Canoe helped me fix a snack (toasted onion bagels with hummus and sundried tomatoes) after a couple of pints with ScruffUK :)
