Did your Traditional knife get a workout today? -Part II

The top one is fullered on one side only, which I find interesting. The bottom one is still good, though fairly old- it has a proximal taper to the tang and distal tapers on the scales.
 
The bottom part of the padding on my backpack wore out years ago. I fixed it twice already, the first time just with some fabric, which didn't last long. The second time I used heavy duty fabric (similar to seat belt material) which was fine, but instead the seams didn't last.

So now I've had enough and I hope this fix will do it ;).
The Geppetto helped with the various cutting tasks.

Otherwise the backpack is perfectly fine. I hate new backpacks, it takes way too long to get used to them and they always need tweaks/modifications until all my junk is stowed away and organized :).

My Stew's Blade did a great job on scratch-off games. The back of the "hook" works great. $6 invested; $24 return. :)
 
I haven't carried my trusty Pequena for a while, but used it today to help me make a pan of soup with some smoked garlic I picked up in the market.







 
My wife found a box of seconds at the farmers market. Sod Buster Jr. jumped on the project.

Don't know if the SAK Trekker is considered traditional here, but I did use it to strip some wire installing a range hood. I usually don't use the wire stripper on an SAK for its intended purpose, and have written elsewhere I always have the proper tools available, but today I gave it try and it worked just fine.

Been working on this off and on for a couple weeks. It's not great, but I've never done one before. So it feels pretty good to have actually succeeded the FIRST try. That never happens with me. I certainly learned a lot doing it.

Two of my passions are food and knives. I love seeing all the posts with fantastic looking dishes with nice knives alongside.. so many of these are artfully done. Love the above pics of the Castor Aitor, I just got a new one that I've been carrying to work for the last three days. Everyday I cut up lots of big, heavy boxes, and really need a sharp, sturdy work knife. I mostly use my Douk Douk for work, as it's a super-strong knife that can handle anything, it's a real workhorse for sure. I'm loving this new Castor Aitor knife, fits in the hand perfectly and stays super sharp.. perfect for this kind of heavy cutting, and a great knife to rotate with the Douk Douk. I love this thread, lots of great looking food and knives here!

Thanks, I was actually cooking a pasta dish for lunch, but having some spare time on my hands before guests arrived, and having superfluous vine tomatoes, I thought I'd knock up a tomato and red lentil soup. I fried the smoked garlic and onion in good olive oil with some smoked paprika. I always enjoy cooking soup, and eating it! :)

Thanks. Slow and steady is definitely the way to go. It taught me a lot about the knife and how to work wood. I had thought it was outside my abilities, but tried it anyway. I found it a surprisingly accessible project.

I am not too hard on my knives and today is not really any different but my GEC did get to break down the heavy cardboard box that out new office chair came in. It was rather satisfying chopping up all of that cardboard into small pieces.
