Did your Traditional knife get a workout today? -Part II

Yep. But it didn't tax it too hard. Opened a small USPS flat rate box with a new to me houndstooth. The knife that did the honors was a Kabar Ka-Lok.

A typical salad for us with O blood type.. The L6 instantly started to patina ....Sharp wee critter.. FES

Now there's a fixed blade that has had a bit of honest wear. :D I thought my Normark fillet knife was getting kind of "narrow", but that one has it beat. My fillet knife is beginning to look like a knitting needle with an edge.

Not today, but yesterday - so I hope that´s ok ;)

this Otter knife was with me yesterday

On my friends building lot it opened packages of nails, bags and boxes... but tape and so on ...

No knife use for me today, lazy day at home, no whittling or anything. Maybe later. But they all (my collection is small) got sharpened up today. Didn't take long as most of them only needed a touch up, but it's a sharpening while watching videos and reading type of day. Maybe a rust removal and oiling day for my #15. Minor rusting but it's down in the liners where I hate trying to get at it. Maybe today I'll do that. Maybe. For now coffee and stropping practice on an Opinel.

My Maserin Sodbuster opened some packets and stuff, and my Boker Stockman helped with the cooking :)

I used the little old Imperial (my edc for some time now) to shape the handle covers on the big Ka-Bar. Time to get out the old Schrade honesteel.

The 66 in the picture has been my go to whittling knife for some time now, it cleaned up the big face and carved the little one. the Barlow pictured is my EDC for the day... along with the old school bottle opener

I used my GEC 68 White Owl to cut the top part of the cap of a Padron cigar to smoke today. I like using a sharp thin blade on these single capped cigars.

I positively murdered a stack of cardboard boxes today with my SBJ to appease the recycling gods. No pix though--it was too gruesome ;)

tsous - You really do some splendid carving. Thanks for sharing.

Great stuff Duane, that's looks like an interesting project.

Thanks Thom! It's going to be pretty cool! I have found that using a traditional knife to scrape the antler is the quickest least smelly way of working it, less dust too ;)

My buck 303 has seen a lot of work the last couple of weeks, from the cutting of plasterboard ceiling, scraping, to cutting rope, nylon, cement bags, sharpening pencils, oh well, cutting what needed to be cut, a lot of hard work for a small knife such as this.
After the job was finished, it came out without any blade play, and a couple passes on a ceramic rod brought it back to the sharpness i like. I normally don't use a knife in such ways, especially a traditional one, but i thought, let's see what the working stockman can do. Well, it can.
(the beloved peanut was reserved for edc outings with light chores, for even if capable, such a work is not for the pretty :D)

Marius happy to see you around these parts

Been carrying my Father's Day #92 since Friday and what a great knife, every task it excels. I haven't been doing my regular dinners, I've been at the mercy of doing my renovations & real estate agents doing showings. Tonight I was able to do up a ribeye with some bread from the bakery and garlic butter, & fresh corn, to share with my daughter, the 24 pound little one ate 1/3 of the ribeye, plus a ear & a 1/2 of corn, wow. The Eureka took care of the little bit of prep, then was put to eating task.
