Yes.
I don't think it's that hard to beat their engineers man. They still can't seem to get their frame lock design to work properly while other companies have no issues.
I have seen a number of cases like you discussed with lock issues. However the amount pales in comparison to how many have been sold and had no problems. I've been vocal myself I don't necessarily trust or want to buy a zero tolerance knife. That said the engineers at zero-tolerance know darn a bit more than most of us.I don't think it's that hard to beat their engineers man. Is it not possible to have a conversation on this forum without inflammatory comments like this ? I just don't understand the mentality or upbringing perhaps. I was taught to have a little respect for others, but that was a different time.
The statements you are making are based on your opinions, and you would do well to keep some of them to yourself. You are offending a lot more people than me and a lot more intelligent people than both of us.Inflammatory? Respect? What I said was fact man. There engineering is shoddy and this lack of an outer bearing race is just another fact to highlight the first. There was no disrespect intended. Sorry if I offended you.

No they are not. They are based on the many lock problems people have had with ZT's. It's common knowledge, just do a search on here.
As for the bearings, I base that on my schooling(aerospace manufacturing, metallurgy, engineering) and many years as a tradedman(I have personally replaced thousands of different kinds of bearings in many many different applications). My guess is a proper bearing race was culled to save on manufacturing costs, scale thickness concerns, or weight. If durability was the primary concern, they would have had races made of a proper material imo.

inflammatory comments?!! This isn't Inflammatory its just a personal opinion that's all and everyone's entitled to one. Now if we were talking politics and or religion I could understand
ZT is by far one of the best company's out there bringing custom design ideas into the hands of regular market buyers with exceptional materials used and machined that would otherwise cost 10 times the amount payed for the custom with same material.
Often I see ZT actually improve the design and fit and finish making them more appetizing than the original offering from the custom. I only own two and they are rock solid knives, love em.
But I stand by my opinion on this design flaw..and its just that... an opinion. If I opened up my ZT and saw that mess under my bearings Id be angry and displeased. Id be even more angry if they told me it was normal wear and it was made to be that way.. If you love the knife or brand so much that your completely unable to admit it has a flaw and even more so excuse it as a premeditated design YOU have a questionable mentality or upbringing perhaps
If the blade breaks, is it just exposing new and sharper metal to cut with? lol
Well since you have all this schooling and knowledge, why not use it constructively. Rather than saying that their engineering is Shoddy, why not give them a call and discuss your ideas with them, that way you aren't pissing the rest of us off with your remarks. Have a good day tachead, and please consider that there are other ways to handle your ideas.
The remarks I was referring to were inflammatory and they were someone elses remarks not yours. I am still waiting to see the pictures of all the 0560 and 0561's with bearing fails.
That's where you and I part company, I suspect. Any time I'm uncomfortable with any aspect of a folder, I'm using the wrong tool. But that's a topic for another conversation.![]()
Did you read my post with the IKBS cold rolling instructions? How is it that IKBS can run fine on Ti with forced races, but KVT knives must run on steel washers?
What if you had a knife that was both a folder and a fixed blade?!![]()
Uh oh
I did see your post about cold rolling the bearing races into the ti scales for IKBS bearing and I think its shoty work. If a knifemaker wants to make a precision race for there bearings put actual races in!
Don t put a piece of metal in a vice and rub a nail into it to make a hole. Use a freaking drill bit!
I do! its a ZT 300! My favorite knife
