Disappointed by ZT 560

You way overthinking bro. I have experience using 3 of ZT0560... I had carry all of them, cut throught steel piece, baton throught 2x4, spine wrack and I never had any pivot issue seriously...

The only issue I have experience with this model is poor edge holding of their Elmax...

The difference in price is only a few dollars but I guess the benefits don't outweigh the the added cost for a production knife.

Right, but as with so many things in the knife world upgrading components that only cost the manufacturer "a few dollars more" seem to show up at retail at considerably higher prices for the 'improved' version.

I may be overly paranoid but knifebro's knife confirms my original post and paranoia

Hardly.

Moving parts like lock bars and springs will wear. You may want to skip past the realm of folders and stick to fixed blades.

I love the 0560!

Yes I agree 100% You really do seem to be taking this very personally, like I have insulted your own custom knife brand or something ....I thought it was funny too...its just simple forum talk and discussion.
I dont know why u seem to take this so personally, or why u seem to white knight it against all the possible trolls in the world but ur coming across just as bad.

So posting derogatory photos of a brand is simple "forum talk" and "discussion"? Please kid.

Have you heard of the whine and cheese subforum? That is where your garbage pictures belong. Perhaps post them there and we can "discuss".

Brandoak, you need to try and understand that their are those of us out here that actually love Kershaw and ZT knives, and we tend to defend them against this kind of stuff. There has not been a fail of an 0560 posted, the pictures that had the ugly grooves were of an 0562 and I took a new one apart and after inspecting it asked for more photos of the races and bearings so that I could see how it was even possible to have multiple grooves when the bearings would only make one groove. Unless someone has photos of an 0560 or 0561 with bad grooves from the bearings, I would agree this conversation has run its course. I have sold hundreds of those models and never had one returned for any bearing issues and overall have not had but a few returned for any reason. To sum up please excuse us fanboys for piling on, you would do the same if it was something you loved being criticized unjustly. Kershaw/ Zt knives are some of the best out their and I guarantee that their R & D dept. has more knowledge on these issues than most if not all of us.

here's a picture of a 80 dollar Chinese knife..... note the hardened steel washers for the bearings to ride on? ...
I am really curious, how do we determine based on your pic if the washers are: a) steel; b) hardened?
Generally speaking, you could harden steel to lower RC than the bearings are and the effect would be the same? Otherwise, if washers are harder than the bearings that's wear the bearings out?

I think you're mistaken when you see multiple grooves in my pictures. There is only one. Perhaps some debris outlined the circumference of the plastic holder for the bearings and that's what you're seeing.

Well that could be. So it is flat everywhere except where the actual bearings rode ?

I won't argue about ZTs, as I don't like them much, and there are other offerings that normally catch my eye.

However.....

Yes, I sure hope manufacturers give into customers demands, it kinda sells knives! Like I said, there are many options out there, this wasn't always so. Today we are spoiled by manufacturers giving us what we want.

How can you say it affects the workmanship of the knife? Do you know better than design engineers at ZT? Have you tested to failure the 560?

I don't think it's that hard to beat their engineers man. They still can't seem to get their frame lock design to work properly while other companies have no issues.

And yes, there should be an insert. Running bearing steel against any grade of titanium without a protective race or washer is a bad idea(engineering 101). It is just another example of ZT's lack of engineering prowess. I agree with what another poster said. ZT is more of a art knife brand then a user knife brand imo.
