DLT Trading Poor Customer Service

How is DLT Trading going to prove they inspected the knife or that it wasn't damaged before they shipped it out? You could ask the same exact same questions to them as you are asking to me right now and their answer would probably be the same as mine. The answer is no. Jordan did not request a video of the damage. He did not request further photos. All he instructed me to do was to return it. So this is the reality of the situation; a dealer authorized a return. On a blade they knew was damaged. They were informed of the damage as well as where it occurred. The return was within their return policy dates. As well as the fact that I was already told that it would be returned. I was not required to send a video, I was not required to provide better photos. This dealer authorized the return and had me spend further funds to send it back to them. When a dealer denies a return after knowing what the issue is, that in and of itself is sketchy.

You're the one in here (falsely) claiming to have proof, not DLT. So where is it?

I however can prove that the knife arrived damaged.

But it wasn’t proven that it arrived damage. Your photos prove absolutely nothing. There’s absolutely no way you can prove that you didn’t flub the edge yourself. You claim we have no evidence. What we do have is two track records: one of an impeccable dealer who has gone out of their way to placate your bullshit in the past, and one of a pedantic buyer who routinely buys and returns knives at a loss to the dealer. Beyond the track records, you continue to point to how everything we state is conjecture without evidence, but the crux of your argument rests on what? Conjecture without evidence. A reputable company with a proven track record of high level customer service states they did a pre-shipping inspection. You state you don’t think they did. Can you prove it? You’re asking a forum full of people with positive DLT experiences to believe the story of a person who is an admittedly pedantic collector.
My response to that is that I as the consumer am not required to provide that type of evidence unless a distributor requires it. And what dealer will put in their return policy, "must have video of opening knife to be returned?" Not a single one because the wouldnt sell knives. So I'm not going to sit here and justify what I provided further. DLT Trading's track record with me is personally poor and unprofessional. With others it may be different. My conjecture has evidence supporting a business backtracking on everything they have promised. This issue is simple; they did not provide a service they authorized.

That information has already been provided. Knife photos were provided. The information to the company was discussed. This company authorized the return. I was not required nor am I obligated to take further photos or video of the knife once an RMA has been authorized. The company is obligated to provide a return. They are not fulfilling that. As such, this post exists.

The company isn’t “obligated” to do anything. If you think that’s the case, then contact a lawyer and press the issue.

Except that you continue to insist that you provided proof when you didn’t provide shit. Hell, you could have bought a Spyderco from a completely different dealer, dinged the edge, then attempted to return the dinged Spyderco to DLT since they’ve been so accepting of your crap in the past. What you’re doing is making a thread essentially bitching about the cost of shipping. Guess what happens at companies occasionally? Someone makes an executive decision. Perhaps not everyone is corresponding with everyone else, Jordan said to send it back, and a supervisor intercepted the package and made an executive decision.

DLT’s track record with you means absolutely nothing to anyone here because you’re a nut. Again, a forum full of people with positive experiences overrides the negative experiences of one guy with OCD.

You have photos? More than one? Where are they? Can we see them? Are any in focus? You've posted one blurry pic.

If I may, I completely agrees with the OP that he has the right to demand the knives sold and sent to him are in the utmost best condition, with the cleanest grind, the sharpest edge, the tightest fit&finish, and the best accesories, after all, it's his hard earn money. But as everyone here have pointed out, your knife is absolutely fine, no chips or nicks at all, or at least with the blurry image you posted, no visible edge problem. Sure, you may say that "there a chip that's 0.1mm deep and that's unacceptable", but that's the problem with litterally all knife company, even custom knife makers can't guarantee that their product is 100% perfect and meet everyone pefectionist demands.
BTW, you say "it's chipped" I say "working edge".

Your post history shows that you have a habit of posting GBU-type threads in GD. Why? Follow the damn rules of the forum.
This tells me everything I need to know about all of this. You knew where this thread was supposed to go; you were corrected on it last time. You made the choice to do things the wrong way if it meant getting more attention.

You're right, it is your word against DLT's. What I know about DLT is they have proven themselves an honest company. What I have seen of your character, on this forum, is that you will do things to the detriment of others if it benefits you. You tell me who I'm supposed to believe.

Question out of curiosity, how many knives have you bought from DLT, and how many of those knives have you NOT sent back for a return?
7 orders total. 6 went back. 1 did not. Personal preference on the quality of my knives that I keep. I have high standards and have found that certain dealers do a better inspection than others before their knife is shipped out.

I believe I saw 6 out 7 were returned Coleman.

Reminds me of the line “wherever you go…there you are.”

Chris, dude, maybe save your knife buying for in person inspection at a retailer. Take a trip. Visit a store. Spare these poor retailers the money losing proposition of your mail order business. For real.

I will agree that purchasing a knife in person is a much safer idea than taking a chance on ordering something online. However, with the way Covid 19 has been the primary way most shops are operating currently is still primarily online. Just a simple fact of life.

And of those 6 that were returned…how many of them were you charged a “restocking fee?”

So just out of curiosity, since DLT won't take it back what are you going to do with it ? I mean, since the damage is so bad and all ? You should get a gold membership here and mark it down accordingly so you can buy a knife you're happy with. From the way you describe it, being so poorly done, I'd say that's what, 50% off on the exchange? Don't torture yourself by keeping something you hate.

There is a final post on this issue about to go up concerning what is now being done with the knife.
