Do You EDC Higher End Knives Like Sebenza?

I don't carry higher end knives of the Sebenza type. Of course 90% of the knives that enthusiasts carry would be considered higher end by the general public.

But to answer the OP's question- the lowest priced knife in my EDC rotation is just over $100 and the most expensive is a ZT 0561.

I'm not a CRK hater or a CRK fan. If I was a serious fan I might carry one.

I use all my knives! There are some tasks that I use a "beater" knife for but for the most part I will do most any task with any of my knives.

I have three kinds of knives:
1) Users/EDCs (90-95% of my collection)
2) Knives acquired for their aesthetic, collectible, and/or financial value. I don't use those.
3) A small cf Sebenza. It's been sitting on my desk, unused, mocking me for my indecisiveness, since I bought it ~2 years ago. The mistake I made was buying it because it's a Sebenza, and not because I deliberately planned to either use it, or freeze it in carbonite for future generations to enjoy. I've even thought of just giving it away here on Bladeforums, since I don't "need" it per se, (though that thought usually occurs when I'm less than sober.)

In that case I'll trade you a bottle of Blue Label for it. :D

My EDC's right now are DGG SMF's at $550 a pop. I have multiples and I use them.

The most expensive knife I've carried and used a lot was an SnG custom at around $1300
I had an SMF custom that was like $1800 that I couldn't bring myself to use, so I guess that's my limit.

the only time I have a hard time EDC a knife is when they are limited. Other than that they get carried.

I've been blasted for using one-off customs to strip wire and cabling, notch drywall & acoustic tile, but they're my knives and I'll do what I want with them. They're not art knives, but tools that the makers designed for use within a knife's parameters, so why not?

Currently carrying a left handed Large Sebenza 21 in my left front pocket, and a Delica with a combo edge in my right front pocket 99% of the time. Sunday going to church, a left handed Wilson Starbenza gets the nod, with an occasional sub by my Ti/Damascus Delica.

This is true. I once thought of a $100 knife as high end. Most of my friends still do. We enthusiasts seem to forget that the vast majority of the general public would never think of spending $100, let alone $200 - $500 or more on a pocket knife. We are the one percenters.

Well, Jesse B.... perhaps I should take a drive down to see you. We can polish off a few scotch & sodas and talk about it. :D

Better yet, come on up to Beautiful Washington and enjoy a bevvy of microbrews on tap !

Strider SnG, Hinderer XM-18, a custom stag handled fixed blade, and have both Walter Wells and a JA Baker customs on the way. All of which I use and abuse (or plan to, when they arrive) at work as a fireman.

I probably cut up about half a mile of cardboard a week; I use a Meyerco assisted box cutter w/ ceramic blades for the task. Using a Sebbie for this kind of crap
is like wiping your ass with the Mona Lisa; I save my quality knives for when I have the time to enjoy them.

I'm really impressed with all of the "use it!" responses. I was expecting to see a few more "don't use" responses here.
I use all my knives, and if I don't I sell it.

I carry my sebenza quite a bit. I think the patina it develops is quite beautiful

Use them both, no point in letting them collect dust. i only carry "expensive" knives though, theyre what i like and i use them for any thing, knives are a horrible investment so go on and use em bud. i only keep 4 knives at a time, and if i start to not like one i sell it and buy somethibg i like. Right now ive got 3 that i carry, umnumzaan, plain large sebenza and a fluted ti military.

I rotate currently through these (I'll post pics when I get home tonight if I can):

1. Shirogorov 95T M390
2. Shirogorov Hati Cf/Elmax
3. Grimsmo Norseman (in my pocket right now)
4. Diskin Fire
5. Sebenza 25
6. Kyle Hanson Custom EDC fixed blade w/ Damascus
7. BRS Replicant
8. BM 62

And I always have a Vic Pioneer in my back pocket that is the limited copper run :D
Also got another EDC fixed blade custom coming in the next couple of weeks hopefully ;)

Except for the last 2, all of those are above $300...several of them are either double or tripple that actually...
