Does anyone EDC a "collectable" Spyderco?

i guess a Ti ATR is at least semi collectible, thats what i carry right now, that or my emerson specwar CQC8, and lately mostly the ATR.

I find a knife of no use if it's only sitting in a display looking pretty and collecting dust.

Of the less common models I rotate between:

- Ti ATR/SE
- CF Delica/SE
- CF Dragonfly/SE
- CF Polici/SE
- G10 unlinered Rookie/SE
- CF Harpy/SE

And I'll be getting a G10 Standard soon and I'm planning to use it for sure;)

It seems that many of the best models are now gone and the prices have gone up to the point that they are worth more as collectables than as carry knives. Does anyone carry a collectable Spyderco even though it is worth 3-4 times what they orginally sold for? Is it stupid to carry and use a knife that could be sold and a newer one bought with money left over?

I carry and use all of my knives or I trade/sell them. I am the same way with guns. If I don't shoot it, I get rid of it. I only want what I can use. I carry a Centofante II SE and a G-10 Police SE. I would carry the PE versions if I could find them. They are collectable knives but I prefer them over most of the newer stuff with a few exceptions.
Therer are very few Spydercos, even among the highly collectable ones that are worth 3-4 times their original price. I carry a C27 Jess Horn occasionally, quite collectable, but I don't think I've ever seen one sell for more than original MSRP. Also occasionally carry an American Flag Q, which may meet your criteria if you go by original street price.

Price isn't that important to me. I do however have a number of knives I bought just to have and not to use which see non or only very limited use and some others I bought to use but could never bring myself to do so (yet).
Most collectable Spydie I carry once in a while is probably the Chinese Lum. In general I carry contemporary models like the Manixes, the Ocelot and the Kris.

If the StarMate and the ZDP-189 Caly are to be considered collectibles, then I guess that I do. At the moment, I am EDC'ing the Volpe that I just got. It is one fine knife, very classy and quite nice to use.

I would like to buy and carry a Police G10 PE. I know that they don't make em anymore, I don't know how collectible it is though.

I wish I could say I carried my hard to find Spydies, but I don't. None of mine are really collectibles, but a few are discontinued in new condition. I figure I'll use my newer, easily replaced models until I can come across a second for using. I don't plan on selling any of them, so value isn't the issue. I worry more about breaking or losing them. The more I see you guys using some fairly sought after pieces, though, the more I want to carry mine.

When I need a shorter knife, it's either the PE SS Rookie or the PE SS Caly Jr. I'd consider either "semi-collectable." If my G10 Police was PE, I'd carry it all the time.

I will carry Q's oacassionally. Last one was the jolly roger. I also will carry my WTC. It's larger than what I normally use.
Like 4 s ter my son carries his BFC native constantly (except school)

Occasionally I carry one of my older Spydercos. Current carries with my ZDP-189 Calypso Jr. and my PE Jot Singh Khalsa in the last month. Almost carried my CE Wegner Jr. but I grabbed the PE Jot Singh Khalsa.

I reguarly carry and use my PE Aluminum C19 Bob T Jr and SE CF Delica. Both have a lot of 'scars' :)

Some of the EDC include:

CF Harpy SE
Ti ATR SE
'05 forum Adventura
lefty CF Police SE
WTC D'Allara #741 (only carried every September 11th though)

While some are harder to find, they are all excellent tools for cutting stuff.

I have an old stainless Provenator that I find I don't EDC very much, simply because it would be very hard to replace. So much easier to carry and use the Walmart Native or Delica 4 without any worries.

It's not a safe queen or anything though.

Meerkat and Gray Caly Jr. for me. I have two of each of these, but both also get a fair amount of pocket time. Just too useable to sit on the shelf - I have backups anyway:D I also have a Canadian Pride - it does sit on the shelf and gets fondled occasionally.

i carry my c-15 , bob t...since the day in the early '90's i bought it.
always respected - never babied on thousands of construction sites.

In addition to all of the other folders I rotate through my EDC included are the following "collectible" Spyderco's :

*CF Police PE
*CF Harpy SE
*G-10 Police PE Flat Grind (Love this knife, need to find another one NIB)
*G-10 Lil' Temperance Trailing Point PE (Love this knife too, need to find another one NIB)
*G-10 Lil' Temperance Leaf Point PE (Love this knife too, need to find another one NIB)
*Aluminum Almite Massad Ayoob SE (Love this knife too, need to find another one NIB)
*G-10 Civilian SE (carried but never used)

Besides the other Spydercos I carry I have a few Spyderco's stashed away in the safe that are taken out and admired but not carried. They are all LNIB. Other then those I use most all of the other knives I own even my Randall.

NOTE: "Collectible" status for me means models that are going for good money on eBay compared to a year or two ago. :D Sadly, the days for good deals are slowly coming to an end on the forums and eBay. :(

I quess so. I obtained a C15 Terzuola about a month ago and have carried it almost everyday since. Today I have a pe Centofante C25 in pocket and every once in a while I carry a vg10 pe Zowada. I would hate to loose any of my discontinued/collectable Spyderco knives, but if I want to carry and use it, I do. The exceptions are the larger ones and my pe green Lum Chinese.
