Does anyone EDC a "collectable" Spyderco?

I have been carrying my original Viele (if that's a collectible), Pe Green Lum Chinese, Calypso ZDP- 189 and Micarta Dyad Jr.
But only when i have a mint in box one for the collection as well :D

I just must have a mental block when it comes to carrying my collectible spydies. I have several that just sit there, because I don't want to ruin them.(I intend on passing them down to my son) I know they are meant to be used, but I can use a less collectible model in most cases and get the same thing accomplished. For example:

TI ATR PE......I can get the same effect from my Military and the Millie can be replaced alot easier and cheaper.

TI BOB LUM TANTO PE......I can use any hard use knife like my CHINOOK I or a full sized WEGNER

CALY JR ZDP 189.......Now while I dont have anything as screaming sharp as this.......my regular CALY JR. does a fine job instead.

BOB T JR (C19)...........CALY JR. does nicely in its spot.

I just won an evolution set off of e-bay for a ridiculously low price and I guarantee it will not see any action. I have several more examples.......but I think you get the idea. I show my son these collectible knives sometimes and he always says "DAD, can I have that one when I grow up?" I always tell him.........."They are all yours when you get older" He can do whay he wants with them..........but the fact that he will have some collectible NIB spydies, to start will be worth all the safe time they see.

Take care, Mike Arnold

Bob Lum tanto, I beat the living hell out of it in the field every single day.

Which Bob Lum Tanto do you have? Is it the C-46 tanto folder or is it the fixed blade Lum.

Also if it is the C-46 Folder then which variety do you have that you carry>> G-10 or Titanium.

Let's see... CF Cricket with my wife's lanyard, Almite Commemorative Worker, Renegade and G10 Harpy both of which I use hard, and a Q with a salmon on it which only opens letters.

Worked on the girlfriend's house today, three main knives I used during the day were a C39 Micarta Dyad, Jr., a C44 Dyad and a ZDP Delica, since they were in my pockets. And no, I don't have back ups for any of them. Collectible or not, I buy knives to use, and to use them you have to carry them. After all, that's what they are made for.

Since I got it, I've been exclusively carrying my ZDP Delica, but before that I carried my Caly Jr. and a Green Chinese Lum. They have all been great users.

I do, from time to time, carry my C19 Bob T. I just like it too much not to use it. That said, I sometimes think I shouldn't until a repalcement is in my collection. I also doubt I'd be carrying it if it were mint.

On weekends I carry my SS Left Hand Police Model, wouldn't leave home without it...

I have several Spyderco's that I believe are collectible and I'd carry any of them if I liked them enough. But what I don’t do is use them just to use them. If there are in my top five then they get used if not they stay NIB.

I very often carry my Jess Horn ZDP clipped to my shirt pocket. This burgundy beauty is just too good to leave in some drawer. I use my Jess to cut, too.

I carried my new original SE R and PE Khalsa this weekend, awesome blades. Just enjoying them as they were intended!

how collectible are the discontinued green frn delicas with teflon blades? What about the all black ones?

Most of my day-to-day carry spydies would be hard to replace, but I don't know how "collectable" they are.

I rotate thru the following;

Calypso jr ltwt - gray w/vg10
Calypso jr ltwt - maroon zdp-189
Delica blue - zdp-189
Mini Dyad - w/ polished micarta hande

My others are replacable:
Stainless steel cricket with ying yang mop
R2 serrated
Harpy - plain edge
Harpy - serrated edge
Buck mayo
Benchmade 960
