Does anyone share my appreciation for Strider Knives, or just Frame Locks?

I don't get the comparison between Strider and CR. They seem like totally different knives to me, made for totally different people and tasks.

I keep looking at Striders, but there are soooo many posts of people having to send them back for adjustments! Worries me! I really do like the looks of them! I'll snag one soon, I'm sure... :)

I am a recent framelock addict... all started with a Sniper Bladeworks Scott at usamadeblade turned me onto. WOW!

I had to call two places, the first wouldn't make sure the blade was centered closed, the next did and mine is perfect, lock up,blade centering, no flaws whatsoever. Locks up tight as anything else I own and you can't force the bar over with finger pressure. The newer lock-up and treatment of the lock bar seems to have eliminated the lock up problem, many complained about in the past. I understand you can still get an uncentered blade though that's why I wouldn't buy one until I was sure of not getting a leaner.

As long as I can get my money back on knives, or at least most of it I'm not too worried. Now when they become as valueless as a lot of other high dollar items, I buy as soon as I buy it, or shortly thereafter I'll start to worry.

My view from the inside.

I know what post your referring to. You misunderstood it then ran with it like a looter with a TV during a riot. You misunderstood a friend of mine, please don't continue to bastardize his words to carry forth whatever thin argument you hold dear to your heart.

Lol. Maybe people shouldn't make silly word imagery, especially in December.

I tried a SnG but thought there was too much handle and not enough cutting edge. Now besides that, it was a super solid knife. Solid lockup and no blade play, and I still think they just look like a badas* knife...but just not for me, that's all.

I guess that was a bit too strident. My apologies to you and Riverrat for that.

It's okay, I've always said I didn't doubt Mick Strider didn't do all he was accused of. I just figure he might have very well changed and be singing in the local church choir and helping out at the Salvation Army, for all I know by now. Whipping himself with a cat O nine tail, in repentance while chanting some sort of religious verse maybe? (all while telling the devil to lick his sack) :p

Oh no! Reading this has me worried as I just bought my first today! Am I gonna be permanently sleeping on the couch?! :)

Totally different people, I'll agree with that. Totally different tasks? Nah. Knives are meant to cut, plain and simple. I've been told that Striders are rough for a reason, that most owners wear gloves in combat, someone else told me that Striders are finished rough so that users can tell they have them in their hands. I prefer a knife that will slice, but I realize I am not buying a sleek gentlemans knife when I get a Strider. The whole tacticool element loses me when it comes to Striders, even though I really like the looks. Very ergonomical designs, neat looking blades, rough and uncomfortable handles and thick grinds. I had an issue with the lock on an SMF and took it to a certain knife shop in the country ;), the owner said that it was a design flaw, and I could either live with it, or someone online would buy it. Knowing full well that the knives were designed for "operators", whether than means soldiers and mercenaries, or armchair badasses, they were not trying to recreate the Sebenza or William Henry knives. There really is no excuse for rough/sharp edges on the handles. Maybe newer models are better, but the CC I bought this summer, one of them was brand new. The only comparable knives I own are my Sebenzas, and the fit and finish was below that of the Umnumzaan I had bought. I like Strider knives, and I appreciate the brand, Mick personally removed tiger stripe and put a custom edge on one of my SNGs I sent back in for a pivot issue. I appreciate the company. However, they have the capacity to make a more refined knife, but choose not to.

I must be pretty damn tough, that SMF doesn't hurt my hand at all. Of course I was raised on a farm and continue to live on a farm and have thicker than normal skin on my hands from being a tomboy all my life and doing things like putting up hay, cutting tobacco, climbing trees and swinging an ax, running a chainsaw ect.. In fact the worse knife I have for a rough grip is a Benchmade 810 and it still doesn't hurt that bad.

Your a my way or the highway type of cat. Not gonna waste anymore time fight in' that. Happy Holiday's to you and yours bub.

To my knowledge he's never expressed any repentance and only apologized when required to do so by a court of law. I saw real heroes die in real war and I can't accept someone building a business based on stolen valor.

To paraphrase Iris Dement:
"God may forgive him but I won't
Jesus may love him but I don't
And I never will."

Well that's the problem, he knows you won't forgive him so he thinks why bother!:D

I owned an SMF before and although it was not for me, it was screaming quality. Tightest lockup I've ever seen on a knife, ever. Fit and finish was impeccable.

Too many people get caught up on the people not the product.

As much as I'd like to think the world revolves around me and my opinion my experiences for the last 66 years lead me to conclude that it actually doesn't. A sad thing, really, since I'm always right. Life would be so much simpler if everyone just acknowledged my superiority and did things my way.

Maybe you will be reincarnated as a dictator or at least a pit bull or something else equally as forceful.

So just when things got all settled down we bring up religion again and pit bulls, two subjects we can all agree on. Nothing controversial there. ;)

Well, I was just trying to cheer you up. Since you mentioned it was a sad thing people don't reconize your superiority :o
