Dogs and traditional knives

What makes you guys pick a folder over a fixed blade for hunting and work? I started carrying $8 mora fixed blades for these tasks and became used to a fixed blade. I wonder the history of slip joints being used over a fixed blade.

Out of all my years trapping and hunting it was never either or,it was both .one being a pocket knife carried in my pocket and the fixed in sheath in my pack,I'm one of those guys that used to get irritated by the sheath knife on my belt jabbing me lol, never really wore belt type pants in the bush.

Ya kinda lost me on that one. I hand out between 8000 and 12000 feet in the mountains. I dont leave the house without a good fixed blade and a large handgun. Usually a 1911 in 460 rowland. I like having the fixed blade since its less in my pocket.

Now i could see where a lot of big heavy gaudy american knives could be a pain in the neck. I usually carry a Helle Harding. Its very light and low profile, and a 3 layer laminated steel blade. The sheath on scandi knives typically will have a single rivet holding the belt loop so that the whole thing can pivot and rotate out of the way if it is bumped.

Interesting topic, but I don't see what this has to do with dogs, the subject of this thread.

Everything. My germa shepherd carries a mora. He also likes to carry an ar 15 with him.

A lot of knives are used around dogs. Some dogs like knives. I used to have a german shepherd that liked to carry around an ar 15. I called him SturmHund.

Dogs are better than people. I lost two this year.
I’m so sorry my friend. That’s a very deep pain that you’re experiencing.
I remember listening to the song “Mr Bo Jangles”
The verse :
His dog up and died
He up and died
20 years on he still grieves …

I have lost three gorgeous friends over the span of a bit more than 3 decades, I still get quite upset at times with missing them terribly.

The Dog is such a gift of what is the most the most loyal love, they just leave us far too soon
.

Sorry for the passing of your furry companions.

That’s sad to hear. I would recommend trying to get another one or two as soon as possible. You’ll never replace the two you lost, but just having new dogs around will speed up the healing process and you will benefit from their companionship. There are so many good dogs in need of a loving home out there. I wish you the best!
