Not as inexpensive, but Todd's Magua would be an excellent small game blade.

I understand that some of you are Busse fans, and that's fine. Great! Fantastic! Don't know what else you want me to say. I personally don't get it.

I don't feel as I have been rude to anyone. As a matter of fact I have walked on eggshells with a select few to avoid conflict. Doesn't mean anybody is a bad person. Sometimes people and ideas conflict. Part of life. But if I can ask simple questions or question certain logics here. Point me in the direction fellas.

Todd, you don't owe anyone an apology. I also get tired of reading about Busse knives on this Becker sub-forum. Sometimes I feel it is downright disrespectful. After all, Busse knives are discussed elsewhere . . .

Don't have an answer to this dilemma. Guess we all need to just get along.

Picked up a Coopers Hawk this afternoon. He was sick or hurt but he sure didn't like being picked up. Never been been that close to a hawk in the woods. Pretty cool. Off to Birds of Prey Center.

something like "LOL WUT?"

I just skip over the stuff I don't want to read when there is a discussion going on that I'm not interested in.

Agree 100 per cent. Christine loves hers so much that its become her favourite paring knife in the kitchen. She just enjoys using it.

Looks like we might be leaving a day or two later for our vacation. Plan was to start driving down to Chattanooga on Friday, but a pretty big storm front is coming in. More time to pack I guess.

Gus, just so you know, I'm still working on a kitchen project for you. I've actually made 3 to date, but it turns out that kitchen tools are new territory for me and the efforts thus far aren't up to my liking so I sure as hell am not going to send it to Canada to cut screwed up bacon.:Danyway, miss talking to ya, we should catch up soon!

Who among us, has walked a mile in his shoes
Never met the man, but from what I hear, not even he can walk a mile in his shoes...

I just don't get it. I m sorry if my words aren't delicate enough for you guys, but I've seen a lot harsher stuff in joking around I thought it could be handled maturely. If I was wrong, I'm sorry, I never meant to cause anything negative to what was at least at one time, a great place to hang out.

Todd, I say we get drunk and pull a Bladite on the forum... What say you?!

I've recently been checking out Dan Kefflers stuff. Pretty impressive. Good to hear he sounds like a stand up guy.
I will say while I know I'm never going win win any competitions his stuff does look good. He sounds like he might even be worthy of B-head status one day! :D

This! SO MUCH THIS! Not saying we can't discuss other knives, knife makers, designers, etc but does it have to be in EVERY DAMN OFF TOPIC THREAD! (ok I'm done... Thank you for listening now I'll return you to your previously scheduled Busse chat)

I was thinking "OOOOH, BACON!"

Did somebody say Magua?

Because I gots one now.... :D
Jeez, took you long enough man! I figured you were gonna leave it at the shop for the rest of your life as a safe queen! :D

Why's it still so clean looking? Haven't you used it yet?!

LOL! Hey Todd, totally understand. Bacon is an important food group that should only be sliced with the finest (Todd Hunt) blades.

We're going to be on the road for about the next three weeks starting this Sunday. If you are around on Sat, maybe I'll ring you and we can catch up. It really has been too long.

I'm having a tough time finding a good, affordable small game knife. There's plenty of options if you want to spend over $120 bucks on one, though.

And this is how I got into knifemaking...
of course I spent more than $120 in 'stuff', and now I make small game knives in that price range! *facepalm*
I'd try to talk some business out of you, but until my work pattern settles, my books are closed.

Regarding the 9-deer 'steak' knife: Looks like a decent piece, I'm sure it's well made, and 9 deer is impressive. However, as I've said here before, IMLE (In My Limited Experience), *cleaning* the edge is more important than sharpening to keep a hunting knife cutting. As long as you don't try to saw through a ton of hair (technique), and if you use a butcher's steel to keep the edge clean and any minor rolling straight (why are you swinging at bones anyway?), any decently made knife should cut through deer for quite a long time. Harder, more wear-resistant steel is your friend here. Toughness against batonning, prying, and chopping is not where you want to optimize your heat-treat for a hunting knife.

And how are you liking it?
I love it. It's comfortable in hand, slices well & looks good to boot.

Jeez, took you long enough man! I figured you were gonna leave it at the shop for the rest of your life as a safe queen! :D
Nah, that's where my M-18 is. I'm sure it will sit there long enough, Todd will grind it out and send it to someone else only to replace it with another.

Why's it still so clean looking? Haven't you used it yet?!
I took the picture on Todd's workbench right after he informed me that there weren't any "official" pictures of it. It still looks pretty neglected... I mean new still.

I do like the blue, it's a great color on there.

Drive safely! I actually need some parental puppy advice from ya. I kept this pretty secret till now, but the big suprise this year for Christmas for the kids is a puppy. My kids are good kids. Its the only thing they have asked for and after long dicussions between me and the wife we finally decided this was the year. We researced hundreds of breed and found for what we want. A larger, family dog, good personality, likes to swim, good temperment, we went with a golden retreiver. So, we've been in contact with a breeder we liked. And got one. She (the breeder) was nice enough to board the dog until Christmas so the kids have no idea. Its gonna be great. Here's a pic. She's a female. Her name is Sophie. We can't wait to get her.

Wow, O.k. let me see if I can cover all the bases here. You know, I read through your post and the whole time I'm thinking, "I don't disagree with anything you say" as a matter of fact, I don't really disagree with a whole lot that has been said the last 24 hrs by anybody. I think we are all like minded, and while we all have things that suite our personal needs none of us are off the charts or too far away on our thinking. We all just have different paths and opinions of how we get to our conclusions.

Let me back up. first of all. I'm nobody, O.K. My opinion is just that. a opinion. if you don't like it, it doesn't matter anyway because it doesn't mean shit. I am not and probably will never be in the position in the knife industry that Jerry Busse, Ethan Becker, Jerry Fisk, (the list is endless,) are in. However I would like to think that I have the same right to express my opinion, (just like all of you do). I remeber a time when I could come here and bullshit among friends and it was fun. Now I/we gotta defend every word we say even when we agree with the masses but question logic.

I have never been to Busses sub forum. Never really care to . He may in fact be the best thing that ever happened to the knife industry and rainbows might beam out of his ass, your right I don't know. I do have my opinion thought. However, I have no dought that he is in the position he is in because he's a excellent business man and I have no dought he sells a good product. Just not for me, and that's why I don't frequent his forum. But how am I in the wrong to question Busse logic if I'm continuously gonna have his product shoved down my throat on a forum I do frequent?

I understand that some of you are Busse fans, and that's fine. Great! Fantastic! Don't know what else you want me to say. I personally don't get it. But I believe I have that right as well as the right to question the logic.

Yet again why I post so infrequently. I am apparently incapable of making myself understood.

Todd,

I extend my apologies for my remarks. I meant no offense to anyone here, most especially you. I do not know the other fellow, I have never spoken to him directly or indirectly, and I only own a few scraps, and even fewer swampers. I would not consider myself a diehard fan. I have spoken to you on the phone and believe you to be a forthright and honest man. I certainly respect your opinion. My post in no way was intended to disparage your opinion, nor attack it, nor complain about your right to have it. Again, mea culpa.

I will not mention the other guy or his products again in this forum, nor comment on same. I like coming here and would like to slug a beer or five with a number of you. Maybe one day.
