one of my in-law's has a Golden -- "larger breed" is an understatement.
good pups, though - great temperament.
stock up on nylabones -- she'll need plenty of chew toys if you want to keep your table and chair legs intact.

Drive safely! I actually need some parental puppy advice from ya. I kept this pretty secret till now, but the big suprise this year for Christmas for the kids is a puppy. My kids are good kids. Its the only thing they have asked for and after long dicussions between me and the wife we finally decided this was the year. We researced hundreds of breed and found for what we want. A larger, family dog, good personality, likes to swim, good temperment, we went with a golden retreiver. So, we've been in contact with a breeder we liked. And got one. She (the breeder) was nice enough to board the dog until Christmas so the kids have no idea. Its gonna be great. Here's a pic. She's a female. Her name is Sophie. We can't wait to get her.

Golden Retrievers are great dogs. I had one once, for a short period of time. I had to get rid of him.

OMG Todd! The kids are going to lose their minds! How old will she be when you get her?

Yet again why I post so infrequently. I am apparently incapable of making myself understood.

Todd,

I extend my apologies for my remarks. I meant no offense to anyone here, most especially you. I do not know the other fellow, I have never spoken to him directly or indirectly, and I only own a few scraps, and even fewer swampers. I would not consider myself a diehard fan. I have spoken to you on the phone and believe you to be a forthright and honest man. I certainly respect your opinion. My post in no way was intended to disparage your opinion, nor attack it, nor complain about your right to have it. Again, mea culpa.

I will not mention the other guy or his products again in this forum, nor comment on same. I like coming here and would like to slug a beer or five with a number of you. Maybe one day.

Doc

You nor I need to make any appologise I feel. Reading messages can be a evil thing.sometimes the best intentions can be mistaken. Please, for me, do not refrain from expressing what you wish here. Not because of me or anyone else. We just all need to realize that we are all separate people and are entitled to our thoughts and opinions. And I am not without fault myself.
Doc, you and I have had conversations and dealings in the past. I too feel that we have bonded and I appreciate what little time we have shared. You sir have no enemy here. Friend is a better word. I admit I am quick to attack when threatened. But its all good. We are above high school drama I think.

Its going to work out perfectly, she will be 10 weeks when we bring her home. Me and the wife are so excited for our kids. And Id be lying if I said we wasn't excited to have a dog again.:)

Haha. We are stocked on chew toys. We totally understand that the GR pup LOVES to chew. I think we did our researce pretty well and are pretty prepared. The whole dog thing has been about 3 years in the making. We wanted to be smart about it. Raising a pup isn't always fun. Lol.

You realize we'll need pics. Kids, puppies and some knives for good measure - sounds like a pretty good Christmas.

The worst "chewing" dog I ever had was a great dane. She was enormous... damn thing ate the seat, clutch cable, clutch handle, brake line, side covers, battery cables, and gnawed up the handle bars on one of my motorcycles... She almost ate the whole dang bike....

Yeah its gonna be fun. The pups parents are just fantastic. The mother is so gentle and the father is a total goofball. Like spoongebob in a dogs body. Here's some more pics. The last one is Sophie on top playing with Mom and Dad.

Yikes!!! Touch wood, we've been pretty lucky with our dogs. But I still have a tiny bit of resentment towards Oz for chewing on a custom built Nelson bench.

From those pics I can tell you guys are in for one memorable Christmas!

Wow i take a little break and come back to hating again. Should i shut up now... yea prolly but im not going to. But ill apologize in advance to those that this does not relate to.

Cbear please tell me what reason you have for the hate? I can understand Todd and Crimson having some issues with him, but what do you have to go off of?

Its disrespectful to mention Busse here but not other makers knives, those are fine to posts all day long.... I mean really the hypocrisy is just RETARDED. No one on the Busse side talks bad about beckers, when i post them there i get compliments, here jealousy and ignorance shines. I have real experience with BOTH knives and im not fanboying the knife maker i have a crush on, and i dont hate on makers knives that i have no experience with even if i dislike them.

Now lets talk crap about the Talon hole but not mention the spyderhole... yea that makes everyone sound real grown up. now go buy a handful of spydercos right after you talked crap about trademarking a hole, the ignorance shines so bright.

How can someone who never met the guy, never talked to him, and prolly never even used one of his knives, still be so judgmental? C-bear? you keep hating and have not listed any basis for your hate. What do you have to go off of to be so judgmental? The fact he makes knives that out perform EVERYTHING you own? The fact he called someone you like? You have no problem posting your non becker knives and talking about them DAILY. SO why should the people who like Busse and Swamp rat bite their tongues for you?

People dont have to like me, i will always stand up for what i believe in. I love beckers, do they out perform all my other knives - NO. Are they still great tools especially for the price YES. Is Ethan a great person who looks out for his customers YES, are there other makers who also do this YES. Are Busse knives great? YES, not many get a busse knife and actually complain about it after they use it. Why is that? why are there not hundreds of people claiming the knives are no good after buying them? Because they work and work well. Otherwise there wouldnt be hundreds of returning fans at the Busse booth at every show.

Someone like Todd or crimson who actually have had a run-in with him, they have some credit for their opinions, but someone who never even talked to the guy, and prolly never used his knives judging them as hard as you are is literally just ignorant.

This is an off topic thread and we have been told its ok to post about other knives here, SO GET OVER IT. i can call out a handful of knives that i think are just silly, and at prices that make no sense to me, but what does that solve? Nobody is telling me to buy something i dont want to, and no one is telling you to buy a Busse. But before you go talking crap about someone you should really have a valid reason.

Aye time for a beer.

I'm just mad cause the Ganza crashed the forum lol

LMAO, you always make me smile bud.

And yea i was writing a PM earlier and ended up loosing it because of the damn forum crashes. It was a long one too, and it wouldnt let me restore auto saved on it. so its just gone. damn ganzaas :)

Just for the record. I have no issue with Jerry, irregaurdless of my opinion. I don't HATE anybody. Hate is a very ugly and strong word. Uncalled for as far as I'm concerned. But that's all I'm going to say, I'm done with this conversation. Its obvious there isn't going to be common ground found here. Standing up for what you believe in is one thing but just being stupid about something is another. Its just a shame it was brought here in the first place. But to each there own. I have no right to dictate what is said here. I'm out! Snark on!
