Earl Sees the World!

A relief my friends as I thought if I was the one that lost EARL I'd get my behind run outta this forum:o:D

See, it takes awhile for NZ customs:thumbup:

Paul, I can't imagine that anyone here would hold you personally responsible for that darn EARL's irresponsible behavior!! EARL has to learn that his decisions have consequences, and he'll be held accountable.

Paul, there was some whisperings to that effect but most were boldly saying, "NO!!! That's Paul your whispering about, the front porch wouldn't be the same with out him. Earl will show up, you'll see." ;)

Now on with "Earl's Great Adventure"!!!:thumbup:

Visions of Paul - skin hanging off in places from being skinned alive - screaming as the Mob of chanting Traditional Forumites lynch him - with me watch trembling with fear as Im next - all because Earl decided to go astray......

Duncan my friend, that statement had me in tears laughing so hard! :D

Can't wait to see the tour you take ole EARL on!

Mark, I just read Duncan's full post now and like you I about spit liquid!!! I just had a chance to glance at his post and once I saw EARL arrived I continued on----THAT IS FUNNY!!!!

Thanks for all the encouragement above guys because if I were to get the boot, I'd go kicking and screaming:D

Duncan and I had sent a few PM's between us half joking that of all the people fortunate to have EARL visit we'd be the ones to lose him:eek: Of course I'd be behind Duncan pointing at him while we were being scolded:p or burned at the stake:D

I really needed a good laugh and that is exactly what I got when I read Duncan's post.
I am glad Earl is safe and sound!:D

I'm glad EARL has arrived safely. At least I can take the cauldron of tar off the boil and repack the feathers into my sleeping bag.I note with interest the EARL has now crossed the international dateline.Quite an achievement for a little fella.
I think a refreshing beer would be in order.

You were never in danger Paul. ;)

Now Duncan - that's another matter ! :D:D:D

It appears that launch would have originated near Sarasota. ;)

Paul - I have an idea of the fear and pain you must have felt while waiting for Earl to arrive in NZ!

Just a warning for those of you who haven't hosted Earl yet. There's a lot of stress involved!!! No kidding......Posing him in precarious places for photos, all the girls that need to be managed. People looking at you like you're a weirdo when you're posing him in public places. You're always afraid people won't handle him with great care like we do, drop him and crack a handle! The risk of losing track of him or having him fall out of a pocket. All the girls (well, that's a good thing) Most of the time that he was with me, I kept him in a zippered knife pouch in a safe place! Then when you leave him in the care of the post office......man is that scary!! It's a great relief when the tracking info shows he's arrived at his next temporary home.

It's all worth it!!:thumbup::D

Phew! Glad to hear he made it alright! I knew he would be able to talk his way out of whatever sticky situation he got himself in at customs. Another few days though, and my hovering hand would have pressed the launch button!

In all seriousness, I couldn't be happier with how this thread is progressing. What incredible stories Earl will have to share about some equally incredible people! I hope he gets to visit many more of you fine folks! Maybe when he makes it back state side, he will come home for a quick break to give you guys a decent tour of Sarasota before he continues his journey!

I know you will take excellent care of him, Duncan! Thank you for hosting our beloved community knife! That was the best dang purchase I ever made. hahaha

Mark, all joking aside, I was a wee bit nervous. Duncan and I have sent packages to each other for about six years now. One time it was going on eight weeks but we have never ever had a package not show up. When shipping international you can follow tracking until it departs Chicago...after that it's all a mystery:o:(

There's simply not another EARL so the fear began to mount...now on the lighter side, I was just happy to be in EARLS company as he is a "certified chick magnet":D

I posted this in the "good barlow" thread but this is the place for it now that I've caught up. I live in Olean, NY, the home of Kabar! I can show Earl their factory, I can take him to the Case museum, and I can take him to Cattaraugus and Little Valley, where many of the old traditonals came from! Let me know and I'd be happy to help out in Earl's travels.

This thread has been great so far!!

What a generous offer! It would be great for Earl to visit many of the birthplaces of the old Barlows we know and love!!

I also like your nickname for the Barlow thread, Jsega!!

I happened to read this at breakfast today. It was very healthy for me, since laughter aids digestion, right? Nice job, Mark; I felt your pain! :D

I must apologise to my knife friends whom I was talking to - I felt quite bad- as Earl was jumping up and down wanting to say Hi - I wasnt too sure if they knew Earl could talk - and didnt want to freak them out  so I turned on the Computer for him so he could have a look through - found him trying to get into the bad sites - I knew Earl was coming so I put a parent lock on my Computer, I came back in once Earl had settled down into the Forums, and found him quite homesick reading Phillllls tribute to Perry..... it was quite sad....:(

Earl trying to snuggle up to his family!

Lol,, EARL is certainly feeling at home near the screen, even if he's thousands of miles away, Duncan!

Great pic, Duncan. I never did get to introduce Earl to his long lost cousins before he shipped out for his adventures. Maybe some day he will make his way back to sunny Sarasota for a family reunion!
