In car - Inova X5 flashlight. (the original one with no tail cap, still luv that better:) ), a Leatherman Original PST (haha I know I just got a taste for original models of stuff. :D), and one good old big and heavy Maglite, just feel comfortable when knowing that there's one around. :D

Left pants pocket: CRK Mnandi
Right Pants pocket: Yellow Photon II & ARC AAA SE on keyring

I replying to this thread as I think it's a contender for most lengthy (and I'm always intrigued by what others cary):)

Lately, I've been carrying my Buck Creek Whittler. Nice little knife. It's one of the few slipjoints I've handled lately with good walk and talk and no looseness in the blades.

BTW, I noticed that the Buck Creek Whittler is IDENTICAL to the Kissing Crane one (same size, same blade patterns, etc). Even the shield is the same shape. I wonder if they are the same knife. The KC version is more expensive though.

dr, The Safepacker comes from The Wilderness at http://www.thewilderness.com/index.html

They are a carrying case type holster. Not quite as good as a belt holster, but handy for packing a pistol in and out of the house, vehical, work ect. It works well for my application, but it may not work for everyone.

Vincent,
Replying to your earlier question about the gear I carry at work. Yes, it all goes in my turnout coat pockets, and turnout pants pockets. Thought it would be fun to list all the weird junk we carry with us. It sounds like a lot of stuff, but really isn't that bulky.
Most tools/items serve multiple funtions, and are generally considered disposable (except the portable radio$$$). Stuff gets lost or broken real easy in fire or vehicle accident environments. Out of all that stuff, the things I use the most are the vise grips and the medic shears.

Many thanks for that, John -
it is very interesting what some carry for work.

That's what makes threads like this so interesting.

I have struggled with finding that one EDC for the last 20 or so years. Is there such a thing as the perfect knife? Consequently, I have amassed quite a collection of all types of knives, in my search for the perfect EDC. I flip back and forth between tactical knives and traditional slip joint knives. Also, I think I own just about every better quality multi-tool on the market , except for a few SOG models. Lately I have been carrying an Emerson CQC-7 and a Victorinox Tinker for my EDC.Thank you all for the great forum, as this is my first post.I hope to learn and share lots of info in the future!
:)

Welcome Knifeman632003. I'm fairly new to posting here also, but lurked for a long time. Hopefully, I'll never find the one perfect EDC knife. If I did, then my search would end, and that's half the fun for me. I'm a Sebenza nut and have way more than my wife knows about! :D They all get carried and used, just not abused. Same with my customs. I'm always thinking about what to carry with me on and off duty. It's fun.
Take care,
John...

Hey John, Thanks for the welcome! I have been playing with the idea of ordering a sebenza for the last year or so. Seems I only hear positive comments on them. Most of my knives are factory made, as they are usually impulsive purchases at cutlery shops and sporting goods stores. Luckily I live about one hour from House Of Blades, which has a tremendous selection of knives. I have probably spent around $1500 there so far this year( my wife of course knows not of this). Knives, along with motorcycles, seem to absorb any extra cash I may have ( very little!). Oh well, worse things a guy can do huh? Take Care John.

The Sebenza is a fine choice
(of course I'm a bit biassed -
but so is any other Sebenza owner :D)

In the meantime you might want to checkout the Kershaw (Ken Onion designed) Vapor II or Vapor at under $25 and $20 respectively (at your local Wal*Mart).

The Vapor is a well designed and very good value for money Frame-Lock (ala Sebenza).

Take a look at this slightly "cheeky" post -

A $25 Sebenza? or is this just Vapor too?

and this overview of Frame-Locks -

My EDC of late has been the Benchmade 722 Pardue tanto.
This is one stout and fine knife and does everything I ask.
But...
It is alittle thick in the pocket and so I'm considering downsizing to a Spyderco Wegner Jr. or a Camillus EDC.

It would be awesome if the Benchmade 555 was available in G-10 or aluminum.

Allen.

EDC Kahr MK9
Spyderco Terzuola
Leaterman Wave
Benchmade Terzuola
nextel i60
motorola 2- way radio
Zippo and marlboros
keys to the gun safe a( don't want to leave them laying around with the kids)
Keys up the wazzooo

Enough stuff to choke a horse

Always:
SS Rolex Sub
Leatherman Micra on my Keys
Mini Bic lighter
Cigarettes
Gum
Mints

In addition:
At work:
Spyderco Forum Vesuvius

Weekends:
BM Griptilian 550
Leatherman Wave in the case on my belt - sometimes

Also ordered (thanks to this and other forums for advice):
BM 806D2 PE - will alternate with 550 on weekends
White Photon II
Arc AAA

Great thread, keep it going.

May our individual searches for the perfect EDC knife never end. We'll get to meet, buy, and carry a lot more knives that way!

Always...a small Sebenza.

Always...another knife.

Sometimes...

A small custom double slipjoint, opposing clip point, in 440C, with 'BEAN' on one blade and 'SUPER' on the other. The BEAN blade is RC57...for opening bean cans, the SUPER is RC61 and is for cutting other things. Both blades are 1.75", perfectly symmetrical.

Other times...

A small liner lock, Wharncliffe blade, (design that would remind you of another in profile), desert ironwood scales, slip case.

Then again...anything that comes to hand. :)

I love these threads, but this is my first contribution.

I have three distinctive "modes" that dictate the carry, thus no real EDC load here.

"Open" - this is when I'm outside cities and anything goes.
-Spyderco Perrin or Moran in tec-lock, open belt carry right side
-Leatherman in belt pouch left side
-a folder in right back pocket, normally Endura or something in that size. The folder is the beater of the bunch.
-in car keys a small folder and a light (currently ASP Sapphire and Dragonfly, tomorrow maybe SAK or Micra with Photon II if I can find it)

"Hidden" - when in cities or visiting offices, shops, etc:
-normally same as above, but with shirt untucked. If I'm out late I add expandable baton in waist band, small of back or right appendix carry.
-sometimes I leave some of the stuff in the car. For some company or agency visits I'll have to go NAKED (= no blades) but most of the time I have at least the Endura on me.

"Light" - when out running or cycling
-a lightweight skeletonized neck-type knife. My current piece is Stiff KISS with modified sheath (removed most of the plastic, can be worn around neck or IWB with clip.) I'm not very happy with this arrangement, and I'm looking for a nicer featherweight, sweat-resistant knife/carry system option.

I prefer not to carry stuff regularly IWB because it's hot and everything will be soaked in sweat and chafing my skin.
