Work-
Leather firefighter gloves, 2" med tape, 2 pairs of penny cutter medic shears, 2 pairs latex gloves, 2 wood door wedges, hose strap,
collapsible spanner wrench with built in window punch, seat belt cutter, o2 wrench and gas shut off wrench all in one, nomex hood, 50' 3mm searchline in a bag, thin pair of leather work gloves, 5 duplex nails, flashlight, portable radio, and a tool roll with a multi tip screw driver, vice grips, sping loaded window punch, cheap throw away knife, and a door latch shove knife.

What do you mean by a door latch shove knife? I'm assuming one to force open the lock but I wasnt too sure - what knife do you use for this?

Thanks

Ross

It's a thin piece of spring steel with a hook cut into it. It also has a handle. We use them to "jimmy" the latch on doors we need to get into but don't want to destroy. If we need in quick,we bust them down. There are some tricks to using it which I won't go into here.
It looks like a really short slim jim.

Hope this made sense.

Hi folks !

My first post to this forum. ;)

I carry a lot of gear everyday, and I always rotate Spydercos, watch and pen...

Today I'm carrying:

1. Beretta 84F (Remington Golden Saber Bullets)
2. Spyderco Military PE
3. Spyderco Harpy SE
4. Victorinox Mini-Champ (with my keys)
5. Omega Speedmaster Professional
6. Pelikan Toledo
7. Handspring TREO 270 (Palmtop & GSM phone)
8. Wallet (credit cards, documents, $$$, etc)

I took a picture of all the gear, but I don't know how to post it here :(

See you guys !

Andre Tiba

almtiba,

What caliber is the 84F? Also where did you get the Remington ammo in Sao Paulo?

Thanks,

Steve

At work:
Leatherman Wave
Spyderco Spyderench
SAK Champion
Buck Ranger

Out & About:
Leatherman Wave

Unfortunatly the knife laws where I live are pretty restrictive  otherwise i'd be carrying a heck of a lot more.. :D

Field-customized Browning HP35, Emerson CQC6 (to be replaced by either a Mini CQC7a OR a Spyderco Military) & a Photon-2 on my keyring.

Finally got some pictures taken of my oft-changing edc gear. sometimes its a challenge (in certain pants, like jeans) but i usually find a place for everything. I guess this still isn't that much compared to what some of you carry (and only one knife, can you believe it?) Anyways the following are the urls for the large and the small version of the image respectively but you have to copy and paste them into the address bar for them to work (any ideas on a better way to do this? can't get imagestation to work right)

http://www.theantitrust.com/ul/edc_small.JPG

Starting in the from the top we have:

necklace with white photon 2, then from the left below that

custom mclux flashlight with constant current regulator, white q3l rated 1 watt luxeon led with interchangable optics, custom machined aluminum body with 1/4x20 ports and a titanium clip.

lip balm

modified mini-fox40 whistle on lanyard

box cutter type dealy with brunton compass slid onto it (if anyone has any info about where this came from, etc i'd be interested to know)

credit cards /licence (sp?) with elastic around them.

leatherman juice s2 with quick-release lanyard

then below that on the left

lg vx-4400 phone with Verizon service

bic with electrical tape wrapped around it

Pilot G-2 Gel Pen (Thanks to the guys that recommended it)

Spyderco Wegner designed Mouse with vg-10 blade and almite coated handles

and

bandanna and hankerchief

like i said the majority of this stuff is with me all the time but if i do need to let something go for space it'll be the whistle or lighter or maybe the pen. I also have a spark-lite i've been thinking about carrying as opposed (or maybe in addition to) the bik but it doesn't seem as convenient when someone asks for a lite.

Hi, Steve (.45ACP)

The Beretta 84F is .380 AUTO (9mm Short).

I have imported the golden sabers from USA, since I'm a registered shooter, colector and hunter and I can do it asking the Ministery of Defence for an import licence. But it takes 1 year (approx.) from the beginning of the import process to receive the bullets.

I do have some "Man" guns (.44, .45, .454 etc), but I can't carry then, since the .380 is the largest semi-auto pistol caliber allowed for civilians. :(

Regards from Brazil...

almtiba,

I'm in the same boat, about 5 air hours north of Sao Paulo. I was hoping you had found a source of ammo in Brazil. All I can find is CBC for the .380. The importation procedure is a real pain in the butt; I was hoping to avoid the hassle myself.

here's a question i had, to people in warmer climates, do you find that you carry less because stuff sorta sticks to you, or people whose climates are often changing (new england comes to mind) does what you carry vary depending on whether you're wearing a jacket or stuff like that? i ask because i recently took a trip to miami and it's tough to carry a lot of stuff just because it becomes very uncomfortable, especially if you're doing a lot of walking. Also (tryng not to stray from teh topic), do people carry backpacks, etc as every day carrys? Oh and one more thing, does anyone else sometimes want to wear the same jeans so they dont' have to take everything out of they're pockets and other times enjoy laying all your stuff out on a table or dresser? i know i do. anyways, happy labor day.

Is 9-mm considered an equal to .380 in Brazil? (with regards to carry anyway)

J-man, in many countries the 9mm is considered a military caliber. As such, it is not legal for carry in many places. The .380acp is legal for carry if you have a "Porta de Armas" or CCP in Brazil. Until recently, many police here carried the .380acp as their duty weapon. That is changing to the .40S&W.
At best, the .380 is anemic and shot placement is critical, but it beats the hell out of the alternative.

Hi, Steve !

Are you living in Brazil ? Where ?

Just an advice, be carefull with the CBC "Gold" ammo, especially the .380.... There are some reports that the projectile jacket got loose from the bullet inside the barrel, making a big mess... If possible, go for the "Silver"...

I do use some handloaded ammo for defence too.

BTW, there are some "other ways" to get imported ammo here in SP, but with extorsive prices... ;)

I kinda ask this question before in the form of -

do the clothes dictate the EDCs?
or
do the EDCs dictate the clothes?

I think I fall into the former camp, where my clothes dictated my EDCs - that's why I have a tendency toward minimalism -
so that should I be wearing fewer (hot Summer) clothes I can still carry all the the EDCs that I would have in more clothing.

The exception is my at home EDCs - where it does not make sense having my away from home EDCs on my person, since they would be at home within easy access. However I still keep a knife on my person - which has to be more convenient than picking up a knife that's lying around in easily accessible places - same goes for a pocket flashlight.

This different carry at home allows me to keep my away from home EDCs in my pants/jeans pockets/belt pouch so they are there when I change my clothes to go out. :)

I know what you mean. sometimes i try to make my slimmed down a little bit so that i can always carry it, but it seems like a shame to not carry stuff that i can carry with more clothes. i like being more prepared but on the other hand i'd like to know that i can carry everything i need in any pants/shorts/etc. I guess for me maybe the way to go is to have a set of "always on me" gear that i supplement with other stufff when i have room. like i always want to have a knife, a flashlight, maybe a hankerchief and preferably my lm juice, but it's nice to have a pen or two, lip balm, a fox40 whistle and a pocket notepad when i can carry them comfortably. What do other people think?

That's it...
my minimalism means - the essential that I would consider carrying everyday -
hence EDC :) ;) :)

Anything else is supplemental - extra that I will carry when I know I have to use/do something. So although it may be nice - they aren't things that I would carry everyday -
hence not an EDC :)
