Duncan, Great View, I totally agree. I would never dream of replacing my SUREFIRE. I'm just upgrading or thinking of replacing the mini-mag for a better flashlight for about the same price. More of not worring about it being damaged or lost, yet decent for its use. Again, I respect your view.

Thanks

Currently, I have my Benchmade 550 Griptillian in my right pocket and car keys, change and eyeglass cleaning cloth in my left pocket.

dunc5, I just read your post along with UnKnownVT. Any suggestions on how to remedy the problem? I to am a big fan of the surefire flashlights, as I carry one everyday on duty. I've been interested in purchasing an Inova X1 for an EDC kit along with possibly a Spyderco Mini Manix or Spyderco Adventura. According to the small amount of research I've done, the Inova flashlights are a very good buy at a very decent price, with quality construction, and water resistant up to I believe 150 feet, but don't hold me to that, may be less. Definitely quality.
The Inova X1 is a nice pocket light. Good throw and brightness, plus uses common batteries.

powells85, Forgot about the common batteries. All about saving money for more knives. Inova X1 great flashlight to go with a BM mini skirmish. I think it would be a nice combination. Or possibly a Spyderco Adventura.

It IS a good light. I have one. The Inova X1 is a great pocket spotlight, in every sense of the description. It fits nicely in your pocket and it throws a nice little spotlight.

Have you guys checked out the Fenix L1 v2.5 a 1 watt Luxeon light that uses a single AA battery - it is very bright for its size and has become the recent favorite and talking point on CPF (CandlePowerForums)?

I bought the Non-Premium version because it was cheaper and only about 17% less bright than the Premium version. Lots of people on CPF have the Fenix L1P(remium) - and it's the hot topic over there.

I EDC'd it at home for a while - and it is a very nice light using only a single AA battery.

I've reverted back to carrying the 8LED 1AA "Xnova" New because I got a beautiful finished version in shiney "pewter" - which looks more like hematite/silvery-black......

It's not just a pretty face - practically it has a wider hotspot which makes it more useful for indoors (closer) tasks.

So these are now my at Home EDC -

Hey VT - how do you like your Eternalight? I was given one recently and its TOO COOL! Mine has all white LEDs but has the same functions pictured on yours. Haven't found a way to EDC it yet, but its in my go-bag!

UnknownVT, Thanks for the information on the Fenix L1. Never heard of it until now. Need to seriously look into this. Thanks and Great Pictures. By the way shouldn't we be discussing knives to match these little lights too?

My EDC has changed up a little bit lately. While at work, I carry a Victorinox Spartan in my RF pocket, along with a Vic Classic on my keychain. I usually have my Delica in one of the inside pockets of my jacket. Also, my Manix stays outside until I get off from work, when it takes the place of the Vic Spartan.

What IS a "talking point," anyway?
Isn't it simply a topic of conversation?

I always thought it was a simple and common English/British phrase used for - as you rightly suggest "topic of conversation".

But you had me doubtful enough that I did a search on "talking point" (in the quotes - to get the exact phrase) Yahoo returned about 13,600,000 hits for "talking point" - so I guess it is in pretty common usage........

of course we should - as you see my photos had my EDC knife the black "boron" Kershaw/Ken Onion Leek which "matches" that silvery-black Xnova 8.... :D

Hopefully we all keep our knives as sharp as we can......
so it behooves us to be able to see when using them -
hence the flashlights :D

Check out the latest flashlight I've acquired -

Nuwai 0.5w 1AAA (TM-310H)

@ $10 it's a great value for a pocket 0.5watt 1x AAA flashlight.

My knife EDC has changed.

I have an Inova T3 as part of my EDC rig, it is DEFINITELY a great buy. It's the brightest flashlight I've ever seen (Admittedly not too many, but I tested it by flashing myself in the face with the room lights on, and I couldn't see normally for five minutes), awesome construction and feel, and I got mine for I think $35. Only thing I wish was different on it was that the tailcap should be recessed a little, it doesn't stick out enough to where it randomly turns on all the time, but it happens every now and then when you sheath it. I'm also looking at the Spydie Mini Manix... I need a new folder. Right now I only have a little Leatherman, and I chew my nails really badly, so it's a little hard to open some of the tools.

I have been carrying my LED converted Mini Maglite, I like it, the tail cap switch does feel somewhat flimsy but I still find it useful.

I reprofiled the edges and forced a soft drink patina on my new Boker Whittler and it's great.

I sometimes pick up this Camillus Utility as a beater, it's tough as nails and not expensive at all.

I made another trip downtown and bought some Macrame cord which I used to make the lanyard on the Mini Maglite, I can't believe this thing is so cheap, 25 centavos per meter, I ended up buying about 450 meters in five colors, that's over 1400 feet for about $10 US.

I recently found a Casio Tough Solar watch on sale at CostCo for about $35 US.

Don Luis,

How does your Camillus demo knife hold up? I found more than a couple in used-but-not-abused condition at flea markets that has, probably because of lousy back springs, absolutely no snap at all!

Mine has good snap on all blades, I have three and one is a bit lazy when closing the main blade but usable, I did some tweaking on all three, basically file down the kick on the main blade because it tends to sit too high when closed for my taste, sharpen the screw driver and the reamer (I like it pointy so that I can scribe with it).

Overall, IMHO it is no match to a SAK Soldier which has the same tools, it is just a simple, inexpensive tough and rough knife.

I am surprised at how many of you do not carry mace or pepper spray. Carrying a gun is nice but the spray does come in more handy than not. Ever been attacked by a dog?

Fenix L1 and soon Fenix L2
Spyderco NAtive (from Walmart $39.42)
Buck stockman (also from walmart with China on the blade) $15 -on clearance
KelTec P3-AT with barrel hood modification and 8 rnd mag extaension)
G36 w/nightsights + xtra mag
Wallet and Oh ya... pepper spray

madcap, Thanks for the info on the InovaT3, I'll have to look into this little light. Sounds like one I'd be very interested in. By the way I just ordered a Spydie Mini Manix PE. I'll let you know when it comes in, and what my ovrerall impression is. Again thank you for the "Heads Up" on the Inova T3, its greatly appreciated.:)
