EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

American? Maybe the company, but the products are made in Taiwan, I believe. I have no problem with that, their quality is very good and consistent. I have had multples of both flashlights I recommend to you, and they have always worked well. The little pocket ones have gone through the washer and dryer multiple times by mistake.

I even set a skid of cardboard down on one in my old warehouse and drug it around with my forklift, unknown to me. It was no longer a perfect cylinder, and I could not screw off the top to replace the battery, but the damn thing still worked.
Oh, I thought it was made in PA! Google mislead me. I'm fine with Taiwanese stuff, btw, moreso just China I avoid. Love my RATs, as you know. 😁 Sounds like some tough lil lights!

I'm pretty sure you can replace the bulb with a LED. I think Maglite sells the kits? I could be wrong.

Friends don't let friends use bulbs. This is the era of the LED. 🍻

Friends don't let friends use "alkaleaks" either. Definitely check out Eneloop Pro batteries for AA and AAA flashlights. They are NiMH technology. They can be recharged hundreds of times and you never have to worry about them leaking corrosive goo into your devices. (You can get even more cycles out of them if you use the slower BQ-CC17 charger.) They also tend to last longer per charge than alkaline batteries in a lot of devices.

Much like edge retention on the factory edge versus subsequent hand-sharpening, Eneloops can start lasting longer with a full charge after the first few uses. Note that in devices like clocks or remotes, the less expensive white Eneloops will give you even more cycles and possibly go longer than the stated 10 years. Also, the white ones are just a tad thinner and are better for devices with very tight battery compartments.

Wow, awesome pictures man. That area looks absolutely majestic! I live pretty close to Rainier, it's about the same distance off on the horizon. We must be pretty close. You're pictures are inspiring me to get back out into nature more!
Thanks! Yea, we moved out this way about 5 years ago and I fell in love with the place. I get out there every chance I get (well, except in the winter ;)) . That hike was up to Mason Lake and then Mt. Defiance, in the North Bend area, about an hour from where I currently live. We're set to stay in this house for another year until all the kids have graduated, and then I'm going to try to find a place even closer.

Whew yea I just looked it up and that place looks beautiful! I'm also exactly 1 hour away from the trailhead in Kent. I may have to go check that out one of these days soon, that looks awesome. I just got my enduro motorcycle back up and going and have been exploring the area (I've also only lived here a few years), I've mainly been exploring the area around Black Diamond. It's nice there too but the trails aren't as long as what it looks like you like to do.
