EDITED: Prices slashed even MORE; Collection reduction due to divorce; Microtech, Protech, McNees, Hoback, Benchmade and more well below retail.

I would like to see his real name and address.
It is in this post with a quote from his first debacle of a thread:

This guy was a scrote in the last incident that arose involving him, why anyone would ignore all the red flags of this For Sale post and not research his user name in GBU is a mystery to me.
Fool me once…
20 positive and no negative feedback is why I didn't think I needed to be a detective. Red flags? It's understandable for someone to give a reason why they are listing so many knives at once. Wish I had your intelligence, I may have picked up on it????

Honestly it could have happened to ANY of you that are insinuating that it’s our own fault that we are in this situation for not seeing markers or “red flags” The difference is he didn’t have a knife listed that YOU wanted. A lot of you have some sort of story or reason for selling a specific piece. Does that mean I should ignore every post in the exchange that has more to it than the exact description of the knife and nothing more? Don’t get me wrong I do appreciate the advice and will use it in future purchases and will not be using f&f again.
Oh and I did get a tracking number finally.

Was there more you could have done, yes. Was it your fault, no. It is all on him.

Um, no. Just no.

This would not have happened to many of us who know to do the slightest amount of research on any member before we do a deal. Especially if you are essentially giving your money away to a stranger on the internet, you need to just take a peek at what a member does here. Post history is important, especially if there is a sob story.

Had you looked, you'd have seen his prior mess and the way he acted. Would you have still given him your money with no protection or recourse? If so you are a fool.

So no, don't tell us what we would have done because you are wrong. Frankly, you screwed up. You've been here a hot minute and don't know any better. Time to eat the humble pie, learn, and be thankful to this community for helping you out, since it looks like you are getting made whole.

Again, you click on his profile page and the problems are right there. That's not detective work nor uber intelligence.

This is clearly a lesson learned for a few of you, new and old members alike. No need to get defensive. Learn and move on.

Seriously, one click on his username to get to his profile page and this is what you see:

Anybody sending this guy money with no recourse after doing that "detective" work? Folks need to protect themselves by doing just a few small things. Most do and to insinuate that we don't just isn't accurate. Learn. Do better.

Honestly, his story isn't the greatest issue here. People need to ask themselves a few questions before they send money to anyone. Who am I sending money and what is their presence here in this community? Can I get my money back if something goes wrong? PhillyJeff fails these questions, and really doesn't make it past the first. I don't care what he has or what his story is. One look at how he behaves here makes him an automatic "do not deal with".

You guys are right and if I would have been on the forum longer then a day I maybe I would have known how to do all that. Which is why I did thank you all for the advice at the end of the other post. I am new and do want to be a contributing member. Obviously my inexperience came into play on this.

This is another good cautionary tale and it could have easily been me as I glance at feedback and then dive in so as not to miss a deal.
Thankfully the member who dealt with me after my -1 incident gave me a chance so that I could have the privilege of building my feedback and buying and selling here.

I have had one member warn me about another member I was about to do a transaction with. It most likely saved me the headache and now wished I’d kept the message so I could thank him again.

Take care everyone 😁

I don't have any dog in this fight but I do like to read and maintain some awareness of things. I just wanted to chime in and let you know that I appreciate your attitude, despite the overly caustic feedback you have received.

If you can ignore some of the heat - in general, there is some good advice here and I'd say the good people here on BF far outnumber the bad. I hope you stick around, find a niche somewhere to hang out and have fun, and (most of all) are not too put off by this experience. This seller's red flags are obvious to many of us here but not necessarily to the newer folks, I hope you get made whole one way or the other.

Boy am I glad I just came across this post today! I read the first post and started getting the urge to buy the 3 star wars knives at the great deal price. I think the whole platinum member label sort of gives this dude enough credibility to be able to scam a few people without being questioned too much. Hope you all get your money back.

That, unfortunately, is the MO for a lot the thieves that have scammed people here (and, I presume, elsewhere). Do a handful of deals, rack up some feedback/vouches/rep, and then skunk people on a big score (volume and/or high-value items). The cost difference between a Gold and a Platinum membership is a small amount to "invest" in their scams if it lends them more credibility.

Here's how it is.... I guess I'm an old fart, comparatively :). I've been buying, selling and trading since the 80's. It used to be I would call the sellers number in a classified ad, negotiate the price then send a check or money order. I did this many, many times and never got burned, not even once! Boy have times changed! I've always preferred Paypal goods and services. You get a verified shipping address and protection. WELL worth the 3 or so percent fee. If you look on the sale forums most sellers, ask for PPFF and most of them are stellar sellers. I just assumed this was because of the new 1099 taxes we've all heard about. I can't imagine that the majority of these sellers are just trying to save 3%. I assume that if the new 1099 rule passes that it will not go into effect until the next year. As it is now, the way I understand it, paypal only sends a 1099 for sellers who do more than 20k business. That being said, I see no reason to ask for PPFF. No more PPFF for me!

This is generally a friendly environment. I think most of us usually spend our time here sharing knife pics and stories with like-minded others, some of whom we’ve gotten on quite friendly terms with - that which makes this place and others like it a community. I don’t know about anybody else, but for me, with that comes an element of trust, even though I’ve never actually met anyone here, where I automatically assume other members are of the same ilk. That’s why when I’m perusing the exchange and happen upon something I want to buy, my first order of business is not to go digging through the seller’s history. I guess I’m lucky I’ve never been bitten in my few transactions here, but that’s my state of mind on this forum. Fleabay of course is a very different story, but here I just expect that other members in good standing can be trusted. I’m guessing people who have been taken by humps like this guy are probably in a similarly trusting state of mind here. If I suddenly felt like I couldn’t trust anybody here without first digging into their past, I probably wouldn’t talk to any of you. And I’m sure there are a few who wouldn’t mind that.
