EDITED: Prices slashed even MORE; Collection reduction due to divorce; Microtech, Protech, McNees, Hoback, Benchmade and more well below retail.

Fleabay of course is a very different story,
Actually, with how ebay overseas financial transactions between individuals, the buyer is automatically more protected than most transactions we see here these days. As goods and services falls out of favor and other forms of payment with no recourse have taken over, buyers are left to their own discretion on what is or is not a safe transaction. This whole situation is an example of what can happen if you do no research on a seller and pay in a way that gives you no recourse. Simply doesn't happen on ebay. You can easily get your money back if you buy from a poor seller.

We have so much more freedom with how we conduct our transactions here, but with that freedom comes the responsibility to protect yourself. So yeah, if dropping a username in the search box and/or clicking on a profile to have a look-see is too much (or you don't know it needs to be done) then you run a far greater risk of running into problems.

So if this guy actually has these knives, and it seems he will end up sending them … eventually, what exactly is the point of all this drama?

That, as also shown in the previous thread, phillyjeff in an unhinged untrustworthy individual no one should give money to, and people shoud take a brief moment to look into anyone they are considering doing a transaction with.

Why the facepalm? It’s his drama that I’m referring to, not all the noise about it here. More of a rhetorical question about why all the stories and excuses if he’s going to end up sending the f’n things eventually anyway. I get that people got screwed, now on multiple occasions. As I said in an earlier post, I could easily have been one of them if he had anything I was interested in. I get why it’s being brought to the public’s attention, and deservedly so, along with the warnings to check up on who you’re doing business with, so I completely agree with craytab craytab above. What I’m trying to figure out is where this guy is coming from. Or is he just a disturbed individual that can’t be figured out.

Who knows what is truly Phillyjeff's angle? It's enough for me to know that he can't be trusted to keep his word.

50/50 they receive empty boxes and he claims postal workers stole the goods
Then that would be a Postmaster issue and all they would need to do is check the weight, although rocks etc. could be in there.
Show Postmaster this thread and put him away.

I’ve never heard such a bad luck story as this guys. I hope his goldfish didn’t drown too.
I have, not just a few, desirable knives I‘d like to sell..then I read this stuff, plus the PP/FF comments.
No thanks. I’ll wait for a Case event, sell eye to eye, cash & carry.
I‘ll also add, I mailed a dues check from our P.O., to a place I can see from the top of the mountain in my backyard…it took six (6) weeks to get there.
Venting over.

Don"t let it discourage you from selling here. The vast majority are honest and these negative cases are miniscule to the number of transaction that are done. None of that heps if you are the one burned, but odds are high it won't happen to you.
As for PP F&F as a seller you decide what payment to take and few are going to object to paying with it. It is sellers trying to avoid tax dificulties or fees and the ocassional thief(preumming failure to pay PP fees are not counted) that want F&F and you don't have to play if you don't want to.
This case very well may end with all getting their items, but it still leaves the seller one to avoid- if you have read the 2 threads.

Honestly it could have happened to ANY of you that are insinuating that it’s our own fault that we are in this situation for not seeing markers or “red flags” The difference is he didn’t have a knife listed that YOU wanted. A lot of you have some sort of story or reason for selling a specific piece. Does that mean I should ignore every post in the exchange that has more to it than the exact description of the knife and nothing more? Don’t get me wrong I do appreciate the advice and will use it in future purchases and will not be using f&f again.
Oh and I did get a tracking number finally.
You should most definitely avoid dealing with any /all unethical sellers. Seller's whom only offer the PP F&F option as a means for you, to purchase their, Goods, leaving you the buyer, completely unprotected. < That in itself, will help level the playing field, and protect you significantly, moving forward.
I've been buying, selling and trading since the 80's. It used to be I would call the sellers number in a classified ad, negotiate the price then send a check or money order. I've always preferred Paypal goods and services. I just assumed this was because of the new 1099 taxes we've all heard about. I can't imagine that the majority of these sellers are just trying to save 3%. No more PPFF for me!
Unfortunately Rich, those wonderful old school days, are long gone.... And what we're left with, are a bunch of chest thumping internet blowhard (Gina's)....
But hey, as long an internet forum like this, can help with these inferiority complex types deal with their shortcomings in life, & help build/improve their self concept and feel better about themselves, then more power to them.

FWIW: I would keep doing exactly what you've been doing here (minus the PP), Rich. Life's way too short and time is way too precious, to be wasting it away just trying to appease some of these blowhard trolls, who live here 24/7 and don't have a life outside of the internet. It's pretty sad/quite pathetic, actually.

Personally- the sales exchange has always been my favorite place to spend a majority of my time enjoying this hobby. I've met some really wonderful people here via the sales exchange. And on occasion, I've been fortunate, to be able to meet & do a few in person man to man handshake transactions, locally in San Diego and the OC. Knives/tools are basically the only reason I really care to spend any of my leisurely free time, here, and FWIW this place/member's I've dealt with, has treated me very well.

Negative Nelly! HaHa. I'm a glass half full kinda guy.... I'm hoping I get my knife :)
I was hoping to check in here this morning and read some positive news from you guys. I guess we'll just have to wait until next week & see how things pan out.... I really do hope that you and the other member's involved here, get your knives too, Rich.

Okay then.

WOW what a SH-T show for sure! Just stumbling across this thread now. I am sorry for those of you involved with it. I remember when he posted these for sale initially, glad I didn’t send him any money.

I like how Jeff publicly shames J Jimmyjackson initially for not communicating and tells him to do better sir, then Jeff pulls what he did. Looks like Jimmy dodged a bullet there…. Hopefully at least

I sure hope you guys get your knives that were stolen from the apt, I mean confiscated from the vehicle, I mean… magically re-appeared, or teleported in his hands, or to his Ex wife’s house lol. Otherwise hopefully get your money back. I’ll be watching this and I guess I have to be much more conscious of whom I send my money to or how. I’m pretty trusting myself. Good luck fellas🤞 and Godspeed

Getting close to two weeks.

It will be interesting to see if all parties are made whole.
People were claiming and paying for them as early as the 3rd of Feb. I understand what you meant though, and I agree. I hope that there's a way to reverse charges through PP or credit cards if nothing else.

Yup!

The seller had indicated a request of two weeks to sort things out, which in itself, is fair.

The unusually high amount of coincidental misfortunes however, raises eyebrows.

It is also suspect, that a claimed lawyer shares so much personal detail. I assume that in that practice that is not a usual tactic.
