Educate me on Strider folders

Honestly I have never owned a Strider, always wanted to. They seem to be good knives from the ones I handled. In my opinion the company seems to have worked out most its QC hiccups it once had. Not to mention their stellar warranty and ability to hold resale value make them a safe bet if you want to pick one up to try out.

Esides cops and soldiers get all the love, criminals need love, they're people too.

You don't have to lie about your military record Matt. (It speaks for itself)
I don't mind someone telling me how many hot women they've slept with or their grandparents have an Olympic size pool. But some pos to lie about his military achievements I find truly distasteful.
I was pleasantly surprised a few other people see it that way too on this forum
 
Oh my gosh...is everything that all of these Strider detractor's are posting, actually true? :confused:

BTW: if anyone here is planning of having a pre-Christmas fire sale, on say a 3/4 grind flamed Ti SMF, please let me know! :D
 
His past does have bearing in this instance since the company was built on his lies. If he was a felon who never lied about his military record I would look at it differently and likely wouldn't care about his record. However, he is the definition of Stolen Valor since he benefited from his lies regarding his service. As a guy who really went there and "got the t-shirts" I find him and his lying partner to be people I will not do business with and whom I wish nothing but the worse. If you choose to fund him then rock on. I think your investment will not be a good one in the long term though.

To sum it up, Strider knives are quality cutting tools. Not the best at slicing though. The fit and finish of their regular production line isn't anything to write home about, but they work. They have improved quite a bit over the years (lock rock used to be a big issue). If you wish to get higher fit and finish grab a MSC performance series (midtech) or even a custom.

Yes Mick did some stupid things in his past. Not saying he's a saint, but he makes some quality knives. I have a feeling that most of the guys bashing Striders either (a) had a bad experience with an earlier made knife, (b) don't like the looks, (c) don't like the maker, or (d) are jumping on the drama bandwagon.

Just my $.02 before this thread gets closed.

I can't speak for others, but I can say with full sincerity that your past has never been something I've judged you over, and you've always been a stand-up guy here on the Board as long as I've been here. Not only that, but mother of god, no one, NO ONE who has been here for more than a minute would ever call your military service into question. You've posted many pictures that make it clear that you served honorably, kicking ass and taking names. I respect it, and respect you for it. I've never seen you attempt to use your veteran status to try to make people think you were something you weren't. That says a lot to me.

Ok, enough mushy stuff. As for Mickburger, to me, the fact that he lied about his military service in order to garner respect and acclaim that he did not earn is worse than the fact that he stole a car. I'm sure there are folks reading this who'd think I was crazy, but as I have said here and elsewhere. The Military is my family, and I am related to, know personally, and have worked with people who have been hurt in combat wearing the American flag on their shoulder. Mogadishu Mick isn't fit to even stand in their shadow. That this guy attempted to puff up his service in order to sell knives is bottom of the barrel, as far as I'm concerned.

But if it matters to you, all evidence sure does point to Mick being a dick in the past.
That much sure seems to be factual.

The same thing happens EVERYTIME Strider is brought up. Someone will inquire about the knives and then they will quickly be drowned out by twenty pages of the same people saying they like the knives and the same people saying the hate Mick Strider. It's getting a bit old.

I was able to get very useful info of the knives. I actually knew much of the stuff about the owner through reading Spark's and many others' posts way before I started this thread.

I asked questions in my original post not because I like or hate Strider nor did I have a clear plan of acquiring any Strider knives. It is only because of my interest in a knife with such an abnormal handle shape yet with a price on par with CRK and RHK.

I will probably use a piece of wood to make a Strider shaped knife to see how exactly that odd handle feels. I hope all folks are fine with that.

Sincerely thank those of you who shared information of and your opinions on the Strider knives. For those who talked a lot about the guy, I fully respect and appreciate your opinions as well even if they are not what I was looking for.:)
 
I should also mention that vinihull did a follow up video with the SAME type of Legion knife but that one had NO bloodline in it. Same metal, same HT etc.

With the same pounding, NOTHING at all happened to it, it was fine.
