Elusive Schrades

A hat trick, in hockey, is the feat of scoring three goals in one game.
Not many NHL'ers have done it, but I feel I've scored one of sorts here.
It ain't hockey, but the thrill is there, for this trio!!
A fellow from the East Coast found these, and offered them to me as a group.
I just finished paying off Christmas, which wasn't too bad this year. (there is lots to be said for empty nests!) :D

Especially when it has to do with Schrades!

Ahhh, much better.

Charlie those are fantastic! Looks as if you just stopped by the factory to pic up your samples, outstanding! not to mention stag of all things:thumbup:

Nice haul Charlie! Is that bone or stag on the tiny bolstered knife? I think it's stag, but the pattern on the shield side is so regular it looks a bit like jigging.

How in the world do they attach those tiny bolsters?

I grabbed two knives on my desk at random, that have older style jigged bone, and put one either side of the Schrade. I see the cut marks at the bottom of the "jigging divots" on the other two. I don't see similar cut marks in the Schrade, just the usual roughness, like stag!!??
But the pattern on the Schrade looks like jigging. The texture of the Schrade handle material is more striated, like a bone texture, but somehow finer.
I lean toward jigged bone, but I'm stumped!!
The tip bolsters appear to be "tommy-pinned. The tips are forged in a "mushroom" sort of shape, and the stem goes through a hole, and gets peened on the inside of the liner.
A tommy-pin is another name for an integral pin I guess.

I think the rough texture at the bottom of the divots is a hint and that it is stag. Whatever it is it looks good. Great catch.

thanks once again charlie for a glimpse of the great oldies. although schrades in many patterns look to be more lightly constructed than case [this is my eye & may not be valid], i was always more impressed by the overall appearance of schrades. also in my experience the schrades were better edge holders than case. of course nothing in the oldies surpassed edge holding of remingtons.[ i'm talking american] the old henckels [pre 1960] may give remington a run for the money in edge durability. the all time champion i've tested is the german schmidt-ziegler.

He shoots, he scores!!! Congrats, Charlie!

Amazing ! and Schrade Cut. Co. rarely used Stag. I think you've got 2 Stag, 1 Bone. I bet these are some of the rarest SCC knives ever produced, and you scored these 3 all at once. Guess i'm jealous eh !
Congratulations Charlie, these knives deserve to be with you.
Just a minor clarification: the reporter who coined the term "Hat Trick" intended it to mean 3 goals in a row in 1 game, but the "in a row" has long been forgotten.

Who was the reporter, Roland? And what if you get them all at once???:D

That congress pen is simply awesome -- it's calling to me, it wants to come live at my house :D -- and seeing great stag on Schrade Cuts is a new experience for me. :)

You will find stag in their catalogs, Dwight, but seldom on the "street"!
