Elusive Schrades

Vince,

That teardrop is something special! I have the feeling that this one walks and talks with the best of them.

Thanks for sharing

Mechanically it's really impressive Ken. I'll show it to you at Blade
-Vince :)

Nice teardrop, Vince! Great looking bone, and the blade looks near full!

I cant add much more to what has already been said about your teardrop Vince except ... WOW WHAT A BEAUTIFUL KNIFE!!

Thanks guys,I know of a guy who will carry it

I wanted to show a few pics here so I could add to Charlie's wonderful thread. It's one of the best threads, and the knives are fantastic

Nice one Vince! That's a beauty for sure. Thanks for giving us a look. The peachseed and that spear are mighty impressive, and I'm digging that shield too. This jack knife gets me looking forward to October...

Continuing on with the Teardrop theme, here's a new acquisition for me, with the usual celluloid trepidation, a smaller model. Most Schrade made TDs are just over, or near, 3 5/8". This one is 3 3/8", and is an EO.
This must be the year of the EO TD, what with the coming of this years Bladeforum's knife, and other ones popping up.
This one is flanked by two of its big brothers, for scale.
It is nice to see full, well preserved blades, as they teach one how to pick out a good oldie, as you all know!

Charlie, who made the DE ? It's a branding that i have yet to 'figure out'.
thanks eh, roland

Schrade made a lot of D-Es for a long time, starting approximately when Empire went downhill in the 1920s through 1930, after the Alvords sold out Empire.
Schrade made D-E up into the 1970s, or later I believe.

Wow!..Charlie...is this the same maker who made this wee knife? it almost seems as though its the same type of jig work?...those teardrop EO's are just fantastic!!..
I am sorry about this photo-for some reason the others wouldnt load properly :o

Your pattern I believe Duncan (in genuine pearl), from the 1954 Schade Walden catalog. Great senator there man! Does yours have milled liners by chance?
Hi Hal, yes it does...that little knife has everything!, including a crack on thge rear scale-although not a bad one...I love this little knife...such craftmanship...and to be honest...without people like you guys here in the forum, I wouldnt have been able to spot the real beauty of such knives.
Charlie, Dan, Mack...Thanks for that...unfortunately I have few knives of this heritage and quality...I am about to begin a side step path of my journey and go down this road of knives...wish me luck guys :)

Charlie, That old Schrade EO-TD is in fantastic looking shape. Typically I am not a big fan of celluloid but that one is just strait up gorgeous!. I am not sure I could be prevented from sneaking that one into the watch pocket of my jeans either! :) A really great example.. BTW, Isn't that what was termed Honey & Molasses cell or some such?

Duncan, that four blade senator-pen is a real sweet piece! I love those small vintage multi-blade slipjoints that function on only two back-springs. Just another reason to admire the talents of the old expert cutlers.

Best,
Anthony
