Wow. If I was ever to do some speying, heavens forbid, that would be my choice of knives.

My last Schrade acquisition, and I love it.

Long lost cousin?

Here is Split backspring Whittler with tang stamp of SCHRADE/WALDEN NY USA, circa 1940's to 1950's. It has saber grind to the main blade and very nice wood scales with pretty shield.

Mike, That one is GORGEOUS! Just look at the unequal back springs come together perfectly, and the fit and finish is very nice. ;)

Thanks guys.
Charley the knife is actually unused but wasn't kept carefully enough.
Gevonovich, the shield is so nice and is perfectly leveled with scale.
Bruce, in F&F terms it does not fall from any of my customs.

Schrade 233 by Herman Williams, hope you enjoy. Looks like I've got a little mayo on the blade from lunch. oops

4" Stockman, well worn but works like new. This is my first Schrade Cut. Co. with the old arched stamping which should date it to 1904-1917. That's old !

Here is what i think is an early Schrade-Walden. 3 5/8" Straight Swell Center Cattle knife. It's unique in that one of the secondaries is a Typesetter's blade. I don't think it is an owner modified Clip blade. Schrade Cut. Co. made a blade identical to this one, so i think this likely is a Cut. Co. blade, hence an early S-W knife.

Sorry it took me 3-4 months to comment on your nice old knives, guys! Very cool!
Wonderful stockman find Roland!

I've shown these elsewhere, but they belong here too!

I've found a number of pearl Schrade Cut Cos, but this is the first Stockman! Near Mint at that!

Equal end Jack in stag!! How many larger SCCs have you seen in stag??

OKCA12e.jpg

I've seen maybe two other SCCs with this jigging on the bone. If you have one, please post it!

I traded/bought these in the parking lot of the Oregon Show, while I was waiting for it to open on Friday morning, about 8:30! Along with them, I got this worn jack. It will be fun to carry. Hope it takes nice edges!

Charlie, thanks for showing these knives. I particularly like "this worn jack". I've been looking for one of those for some years now. I think it is the predecessor of the Schrade-Walden 2OT. Great find, i think it is reasonably rare.

Thanks Bruce. The Barlow is a nice one - quite snappy, full, and nicely fitted.

Charlie a question about the Stag Equal End Jack: Is the stag worn down or did SCC smooth them out like they are now ?

Like Case, many cutleries preferred smoother stag on the mark side, to facilitate shield installation, although this one is a little extreme. The back is much gnarlier.
