Elusive Schrades

Both Charlie and Hal....absolute STUNNING knives.... I cannot tell you the feeling I get looking at wonderful knives like these.
Charlie...good score on that big auction site... That Balloon pattern is simply beautiful..just beautiful, and Hals Cattle knife is one of the better ones that I have laid eyes on-Whew!...to own a knife like that!!

Nice scores Charlie.

I agree the old peachseed Schrades are indeed elusive. Here is an 861 I got recently. It has a crocus polished front side on the turkish clip, all other blade surfaces are glazed. Though fairly fresh, it does have an issue with the center pin being drilled a bit close to the edge of the springs. Still a nice specimen with dark handles.

Those last two are super, Waynorth. Love the looks of both of them, but that balloon pattern is a stunner wiht that unique main blade. The equal end is very nice as well. Curious about it not having a shield. Did they make many from that era without shields?

Bigbass, there were quite a few knives made without shields in that era, and during the World Wars. Some to provide less expensive working knives, some because of metal shortages, and some to be competitive for military contracts!
Thanks everyone, for the positive and appreciative comments!
And for the contributions, Hal, Jason and Jake to my favorite thread!
(Jake your picture disappeared! Can you restore it?)

It's been too long since I looked in on this thread. Some really nice pieces with great looking bone.

This thread only wakes up a few times a year! These rarer Schrades are getting harder to find I guess.
Everyone's favorite Auction site yielded these two.
WOW Charlie, You certainly do have a knack for finding the oldies. Nice finds. ;)
And nice to see this thread active again.

Nice stock knife, Hal!

I tried to organize my photos since they were all in one photo album... and it was not been my best idea. I'll see if I can fix the links.

Nice to see your stockman back in post #426, Jake!

Roland! Calling Roland!!
You have the same problem - missing pictures!
Please bring 'em back - we like your knives too ya know!!;)

Outstanding thread, my favorite
Just last week I was looking for it and could not remember where it was
Waynorth - awesome knife collection in excellent condition
Thanks to all the others, for posting their elusive Schrades
My only interesting contribution, a pawn shop purchase

Nice contribution indeed, Ray5118!

More unusual Schrades please, everyone!! Dig 'em out, and put 'em up here!!

Charlie, I hope that this knife belongs here in this awesome thread filled with the most beautiful knives.
It doesnt have the "eye candy" beauty of our much loved jigged boned Shrade Waldens, but this is made by Schrade Walden, and superbly so...I hate to rave on folks, but this knife to me is a wonderfully made knife, all the goodies such as very nice swedges, matchstrike pull.So here is a very uncommon black handled -gold shielded Schrade Walden Old Timer ( did I say I loved this knife? )..
Information passed on to me suggest that this knife is mid 60's, and this knife is so so tidy.
Charlie, if this knife doesnt quite belong here, please let me know and I will rectify things, as I have lots to learn..

Thanks for looking, and Charlie, thank you for your thread, and your fantastic information that we are all so very lucky that you are kind enough to share with us - thank you.

Two nice ones Duncan! Both worthy additions. I have never owned a Black OT! Cool!!
'course that slim stockman is hard to find in that nice condition . . . . . .thanks for the additions from NZ!!

Not too many with the shield stamped, Stich! Thanks also!!

Charlie, my mouse clicking finger twitched at the wrong time and my photobucket album with over 800 pictures was deleted.
many of those pictures are no longer on my computer either. It's hard to find the knives to retake the pictures as they are all in a pile, a 7000 knife-big pile.
'Tis a shortcoming of the digital age: pictures are easily lost and then gone forever.

That sounds like something I'd do, Roland. I hope you can recover them.

Perhaps enlist the young lass who colored in your Knives Guide to take new pictures? If nothing else it might make for an interesting guessing game as we catch glimpses of bolsters in the corner of a picture, try to imagine a given knife in focus, etc. ;)

I feel for you Roland. History has been lost!!!!
