Elusive Schrades

Here's a few I dug out today...not as clean as many posted here, but I take them when I can get them.

Glenn, I see you have been holding out on us!! Shame Shame Shame:D

Your going to have to make it up to us...more photos in brighter light:)

Thanks for sharing, Glen. Great lobster and bare heads!!

Yeah, I know. I tried out a new light box I whipped up. Guess I've got a little rework to do on it, but it beats standing out in the snow to get a good pic.

Well, I will at least have to give you an "E" for effort. ;) Nice knives, and really liked seeing the motto on the Scouts knife. :)

I'm bringing this thread back up because I finally scored one that has been elusive for me! Mint new, uncarried, unsharpened in the original plastic box. I believe from the mid '70s, but anyone with more exact info, please speak up. Pics do all the talking for me.

Very nice! Early to mid 1970's. The "N.Y." was not used long after the change from Schrade Walden to Schrade in early 1973. And the tube packaging wasn't used long thereafter either.

I love the red color in that cut co. Great old knife!

Great knives, Jeff and Gev!!
Thanks for bringing up my favorite thread with some worthy cutlery!

And that's a very nice "herd", Glenn - sorry I didn't comment last month!!
That fixed blade is very cool! First one I have seen in the flesh!
Elusive indeed!!

Gev, that red wood looks harder than a hangman's heart! I love the sworls in the grain.

Thanks, Glen!! I was surprised by this one. I believe its ebony but I have never seen red swirls in ebony before. You can only see it in direst sunlight.

Thank, Charlie!

Thanks, Jeff! It came with white-ish grime on it. I cleaned it off and the wood was very dry. Oiled her up and took her outside and...was quite surprised by the color and grain.

Could be rosewood... I found one very similar to yours a few weeks ago in an antique shop and the guy that owns the place told me he thought it was rosewood. Here's a really bad pic of the one I own but you can kind of make out the reddish color in it too;

These knives were posted in the Barlow thread. As well the Schrade Cut Co has been posted earlier in this thread, but its fraternal twin (even down to the patina) recently showed up, so it deserves a place here I'd say! A rose by another name . . .
