Elusive Schrades

Could be rosewood... I found one very similar to yours a few weeks ago in an antique shop and the guy that owns the place told me he thought it was rosewood. Here's a really bad pic of the one I own but you can kind of make out the reddish color in it too;

Nick, The old catalogs states they were made from Cocobolo and Ebony. So I am guessing its not rosewood. It looks like a No#2063 in the catalog, but there is no number on the knife. Here is a link to the catalog page I am referencing:

Not sure just how elusive this beauty might be but I've been wanting to post it for a while, so here ya go. Enjoy!

That jigged barlow is something, 67Nick!

Here's a rarely seen Schrade Cut Co. Has more ornate, Washington bolsters and thicker celluloid covers. Shrinking a little at the lower bolsters but with the Schrade logo on them and the fancier bolsters up top, still a very rarely seen, usable Jack knife today. Charlie has shown one on page 9 of this thread. I knew you would own one, Charlie!!:D

Perry Sir-Love the Bolsters and Cap - Oh man a good day is that when you get a knife of such beauty!
Nick That Bone is absolutely stunning - lovely!

Perry, you sent me off to Page 9 yesterday, and I just got back today!
Garsh I love this thread!!;)

LMAO! I know the feeling, Charlie. You've got me going back and forth so much, I'm getting whiplash! Some outstanding knives in this thread and you own most of them, something to be very proud of my friend!

Although this knife has composition handles, made years later,it may be more rare than the Schrade Cutlery Co.s ? I have not seen any others, except the ones I have.

That plastic was only used for a short time, as I recall. It is indeed rare. In all my Schrade hunting I may have seen it 6-8 times!
Nice find there, Kiddo!!
Keep it cool and dark!

Lyle - that is THE BEST Composite I have ever had the pleasure of seeing!! What a score!!! and thank you for sharing with us - man I love this Thread.

mmmmmmmm... ha ha ha ha . I liked that Gev,made me laugh.

Thank y'all for all the nice comments.

Charlie, are you counting various patterns when you say 6-8 times,or just these farmers jacks?

Lyle-That is the nicest example of an old knife with plastic handles as I have ever seen. The ones I have seen are shrunken and or chipped. :(
Very Nice!

I went down to my P.O. Box yesterday, hoping this knife would be there! I am not familiar with the pattern, and this is the first one I have seen marked Schrade Cut Co..
Of course it is a "regular" Jack, where the end widens or swells. But it is a hair or two over Four Inches long!! Therein lies the rarity!!
And it has all the hallmarks of being an oldie. Arched tang stamps, nice swedge work, and wonderful random-jigged bone like you see on the older pieces from the Walden area; Walden, New York, and Schrade Cutleries shared a bone handle shop, and you will see similarities in their jigging if you study the old knives. Some call it "pick bone".
Without further delay, check this sucker out!!

I recently found this Spear mastered example in relic shape not as fine as Charlie's. Bone is pocket worn and the blades have been used but still snaps and very sharp!
