I love the look of this knife! it isn't as modded out as the hest folder which for me is a big plus. I love simple! I do like the black g10 and the stone washed blade. great knife guys i will definitely be buying one. I would really like it if you had a black g10 with the stone washed blade. NIce Jeff

I've never needed to take a knife apart in the field either. Neither did any of our grandfathers.

That being said, the inclusion of an optional Phillips head pivot screw is a novel concept. If going the "easy-to-find" route, though,

I'd go with an Allen head with a slot cut in it to allow for "flat head-like" tool usage to tighten in an emergency.

I like the allen head with a slot idea. I could always cut a slot in any head I guess.

Our grandfathers did without a lot of things I sure do find convenient.

Nice work on the knife! I would like to see this:
1- Keep the tip up or tip down option.
2- Glass breaker is a nice touch and it doesn't get in the way.
3- Coat the blade to keep the ESEE theme going, with your same branding.
4- Coat the locking side of the frame and the clip in the same stuff S&W
coats their pistol slide. This way all the steel on the tool will be black.
5- Scales could come in black, OD green, tan and orange options. Even sell
the scales seperate for changing the look up.
6- Torx bits
7- Lanyard hole. We like 550 cord:)
8- Kitchen sink.

I really like the clip design which will allow the knife to sit lower in the pocket. This may be nit-pickey, but take a look at how the clip screws are exposed. They seem from the pics that they may catch on the pocket fabric which may inhibit a smooth draw.
Maybe building up the clip material around them or having them embedded into the clip would remedy that.
Just my 2 cents.

Jeff and Mike, Thanks for waiting on production. This will give me time to save up from my HEST/f purchase!:D

Great looking knife!

geez, I go to sleep for a little bit and wake up to a new knife and 6 page thread...

anyways, I think if taking the knife apart in the field is a high priority for someone, they will either ensure they have the correct tool for the job, or they will replace the screws themselves for ones with the head of their choice.

I'm digging that prototype. And Jeff, my offer still stands if you want me to do my worst on it up here in AK. :D :D

Been looking to get another good folder....Hope the wait for this one is not long....BREATH>>>>BREATH.

Awsome looking knife, I know yall have some details to work out. Can't wait to see what you have in store for it. This will be a great knife, but I'll have to hold out for the Izula Folder. 3" Blade limit (Company Policy) for me to EDC it.

Keep up the great work!

How about the IZULA folder? Is it's launch in the near future? The prototype photo on the ESEE website looks sick.

Either way... one of these folders is the next knife I'm buying!

This reminds me of my first "quality" folder - a Benchmade Crawford, I like it!

As for the torx bit, I think it's becoming more and more common place, not so much as everyone has one, but more like you'd only have to ask half a dozen people if you "needed" one.
edit: and like Semper said above, have it with you...

Yeh, finally since arriving I am involved at the beginning of a knife product development.

Jeff take your time and do it right = your and Mike's way, which is your culture.

Do it consistent with the brand you have developed.

Elements to consider:

- US steel-US made if possible
- Multi colored micarta scales
- Remember your core audience and customer
- Make a folder w lockup feature demonstrably as strong as an ESEE fixed blade.
- No count down timer

Best wishes in your product development process, clearly raving fans are here waiting!

Won't happen. Can't happen. Physics says so, but I am pretty sure it will be one tough ass knife, no doubt.

Holy smokes! How did I miss this?! I'm waiting on a Hest folder, but I'm pretty sure I'll have to get one of these, too!

After studying this design, it looks a lot like an AG Russell Acies in blade shape and framelock side.

I like it, please no blade coating - a nice stonewashed blade would be nice. I'd like the see the clip set deeper, since the foldover style clip permits that.
