Jeff, from all the products I had the pleasure of using from you guys, I would put full faith in whatever design that comes to fruition. with that said, you had me bought at "ESEE-3 Folder pototype photos" lol

I really dig the looks of this folder you guys, look forward to when they are in production.

Lates,

Looking real nice Jeff, thank you for taking the time and sharing.

Looking forward to seeing these released and I'm sure they will be up there with the rest of the ESEE line in quality.

Please keep us posted.

Beautiful! why dont you guys like the rotoblock? Just curious, I have never had a knife with one but hear they are uber... Thoughts?

From an earlier post by R.A.T/Jeff:

"RotoBlock: sometimes it will lockup when I draw the knife and open it. Must be how my fingers slide across it. Anyway, it pisses me off when I go to close it and the damn rototblock is preventing that from happening. I've carried one for about a month now and don't like that feature at all. Lion Steel's Frame Lock is good 'nuff without the need for the RotoBlock."

ESEE-3 without a choil = a dream come true!!

I loved my 3 but the choil just bugged me for some reason, one of the reasons I sold it. On the 4 it doesn't bother me a bit. Add in the fact that this will be a lot easier to carry makes me think ya'll will have a winner for sure! Can't wait to see more on this in the future!

Actually the folder does have a small choil for sharpening purposes.

That folder looks perfect. Very simple lines and the perfect size. If it performs as well as i think it will, I'm pretty sure you guys hit a homerun. Can't wait to get my hands on one... or a couple. I'll bet this folder is going to kick my ZT right out of my pocket.

Finished prototypes with logos, etc will be at SHOT show. Again, no production timelines, pricing or final specs worked out since we want to use the protos for a while and see what we don't like and what we want changed.

I love it, just as it is! Yet another reason for me to get my arse to SHOT this year.

Jeff , if you need a prototype field-tested you know who to call :D

Nice looking knife.

Sorry if this has been asked/answered before...

How thick is the blade? It looks like it might be a little thicker than the fixed 3.

You might want to read the first post...

I know, I know, you were too busy looking at the pretty pictures.

The knife looks great, love that full flat grind. Another Strider killer lol :p

There are some things that I personally don't care for though(as I do with many other knives as well);

I'm not a fan of drilled holes everywhere for a 4-way clip creating more areas for dirt, water, etc. to get into. I think it should have a L/R tip-up carry at most, the tip-down clip position seems awkward and doesn't partially function as a lock-stop in that position anyway.

I don't care for that pivot Lion Steel uses, again more tiny holes that crap gets into and I think any proprietary screws are anything but user-friendly. Having to carry something extra just for a single knife is a bit much, keeping track of it and losing it is even worse.

The final potential issue(and probably the biggest) I have is that pocket clip - I really don't like tip-up deep pocket carry clips because they are noticeably uncomfortable while using the knife. The edges of the clip always seem to dig-in and rub against the hand and forces you to lean the hand against the clip that's floating off the handle instead of the hand resting on the handle itself. The Benchmade Rukus has a similar style of clip and I got rid of it just because of the clip. Try the knife after taking the clip off - it's almost criminal the comfort difference those deep pocket clips make. By having a non-folded over clip and having a flat portion at the back end of the handle, I think its more ergonomic, especially for a folder that might see more outdoors use(stronger hand grips, more prolonged uses) rather than urban EDC tasks that other knives generally see. If the folded clip is staying, I'd like to see it at least recessed into the handle.

And speaking of stronger hand grips, while losing the Rotoblock how about adding the stainless insert for the lock? :D I think possibly sending/selling those to fix locks that have traveled too far would be more efficient than sending the whole knife back. I just see this knife as a more heavy duty user than others(maybe just from the fact its ESEE) and I find gripping any Ti framelock really hard causes a lot of 'sticking' and early wear.

Sorry for all the selfish suggestions lol, but maybe you'll consider some of them. :o

In order for a clip to be a decent lock stop, the clip would have to be stronger than the lock. Its simple physics. The lock is FAR FAR stronger than the clip so no lock stop is needed at all. This clip "lock stop" is a fairy tale for the most part when it comes to strong lock bars because I assure you that you won't over-extend this lock bar.
