From a fellow arfcommer, I’d think you’ve been involved in the numerous “US Made Toyota” debates in GD. They’d love to make it in the US if there were many good companies that would be interested in doing it. Depending on what it is, Made in USA isn’t always an improvement. Remember TAD Gear had to move some of their production overseas because there weren’t any US makers willing to make it to the specs they wanted it to be.

Let's not debate someone on why they chose the way they chose because we want their feedback. Whether anyone else agrees with it or not it's important to us. In the end, whatever we do, someone will be disappointed but to understand why someone doesn't like something is very important to us. All Im saying is let's not make this thread into a "US vs them" type of thread.

I prefer to by US made goods whenever I can but If you guys are willing to put your name on it and your warranty behind it, then I would buy one.

Can I get one with "Made in Idaho" on it?

I do like your commitment to the US economy and that is a factor in why I have purchased your products.
I also have 2 HEST folders on the way and like the look of LionSteel's work. This sounds like a great business opportunity, as I do know unemployed metallurgists and engineers.

I voted yes, I definitely wouldn't mind a folder made outside of the U.S. with RAT backing it, especially if made by Lion Steel because of their reputation for quality. While its not a fully US knife, much of the money still stays here with your staff, distributors, and retailers.

Absolutely! Lion Steel's stuff looks awesome. I've already got my my USA made manix 2 kicked out of my pocket with my hopefully soon to arrive HEST folder and I'm imagining that this in titanium would kick the HEST out as soon as it arrives.

I'm not reading all four pages but no.

A couple of years ago I made the switch to try and buy what I could, made in the USA.

I can buy Case, Benchmade, Kershaw, and Buck (who is making arangements to move more production back to the US) etc...
There are TOO MANY other American choices for me to justify spending money on foreign products. I'm trying to make sure my neighbor has a job.

If we continue to purchase things made overseas, no one here will have a job to buy anything. So if it is possible I do try to buy Made in the USA.

I feel that if a company wants consumers in a country to buy their products, naturally, the product being made in that country would give people wages to purchase and consume those products.

I have found that being honest is the best technique I can use. Right up front, tell people what you're trying to accomplish and what you're willing to sacrifice to accomplish it.

I voted yes. It would be like the Ferrari of the Knife world. Seriously though, I would pre-order it now even with no estimated date of delivery. Do it.

There is no right or wrong answer to this question and we won't let this get into a debate or fight. We're truly looking for honest feelings/feedback

I didn't vote because I don't need another folder and I'm still waiting for my HEST folder. Later down the road... we'll see. Still, I wanted to give my two cents.

Buying domestic products is important to me. With knives (I don't own many), it's always been easy. There are lots of U.S. manufacturers that make great knives and I had no need to look elsewhere.

Then the HEST/F popped up. I gotta admit, I really struggled with buying this knife because it's not a domestic product and even now I feel a little uneasy about it. In the end, though, it has all the features I want and it and has YOUR stamp of approval. ESEE brought my attention to that knife and ESEE is hands down the main reason I'm buying it... even though it's not an ESSE product. I don't know if that makes sense.

So, if all that B.S. wasn't vague enough, my answer is, I don't know. If it meets all my needs and I can't find another domestic that does the same... probably.

Does that help? Ha!

Not many companies ask customers permission before doing anything. Lionsteel is top notch and so is Esee. Thumbs up from me.

i say yes...but country and company play a big part in that yes...so thanks for sharing that it would be Lion Steel in Italy...

While I was looking forward to an ESEE folder that was made in the USA with US materials....if the quality is there, and i know Lionsteel is great, and the ESEE type warranty is there, i would purchase.

I buy USA only , ask my wife I read labels on Dog treats to see where they are made before I purchase :D

LionSteel has a great Rep & if ESEE is willing to possible give it a try and come up with a good folder warranty why not ?

Wasn't jumping on you, brother. Just didn't want people to think this was a debate of USA vs. Foreign. Main thing we're trying to do here is get honest feedback from our customers and knife users because it helps us to shape our company better in the future. I know this type of question can get heated because there is a lot of pride and loyalty to one's own country, as it should be. Trust me, I'm a USA Made guy all the way too, but I also know we want a high quality folder to be made pretty soon, so there's just not a lot of options on the table for us. We are most likely going to go with Lion Steel but again, we want feedback from everyone. Especially those who may disagree with us.

What ESEE is willing to do is back the folder as we back our fixed blades, no questions asked, if we go this route and do this. I realize there are those that will absue it since moving parts are easier to abuse than a fixed blade but that discussion is best left for another thread...if we decide to go forward with the project.

Another thing ESEE is known for that gets over looked is alot of people come to ESEE knives for top quality & price point (Affordability for common folks)
I know the quality will be there & I hope the ESEE3 Folder price point will be affordable as well. Some folders to me are outta sight price wise

I would prefer a USA made knife but I am also a realist. I think Lion Steel is a good choice & seeing how popular the Lion Steel made HEST Folder has been, I don't think it would be an issue for ESEE Knives.

For me: I buy a Esee Knive - I expect Esee Quality, warranty and that the people behind Esee are proud of it (only then it´s for me a good product) plus the product was done under acceptable workcondition. If it´s US, Italy, Germany doesn´t interest me much - only when I have to decide between two products then the country of origin counts.

If it´s Ok for you - it´s ok for me
