ESEE Izula folder (for real this time)

That original rendering was not done by anyone at ESEE, IIRC.

There really isn't any way it would work like that, anyway. Look at the geometry of the lockbar. Too far beneath the pivot to be effective.

Which makes little sense. Kershaw, Buck, Benchmade, Spyderco all have great warranties also. Many of their products are also made here. So, again, I'm not understanding what the huge draw of this knife is.

None of those companies come close to ESEE's warranty. They are all good but ESEE is by far superior.

JR: "In all honesty, the knife industry is about 99 percent bullshit. We sell knives every day to people who will never use them. Knife buying is more of a want than a need."

"the reason we designed this is because some mall ninja would think it's cool and spend money on it."

So new and tacticool of Jeff Randall, pass on this one.

This logic could apply on almost everything... living is overrated.

"NO QUESTIONS ASKED WARRANTY:

If you break it, we will replace it. Warranty is lifetime and transferable. In other words, we warranty the knife no matter how many times it's been traded, sold or given away - no sales receipt or proof of purchase required.

A lot of folks have asked us how we can stay in business offering such great customer service and warranty protection. The answer is simple; we believe that American consumers, as a whole, are honest people. The occasional customers who are dishonest are few and far between, so even if we lose every once in a while due to dishonesty, our reputation of great customer service, regardless of the situation, brings us more good customers.

ESEE KNIVES ARE NOT THROWING KNIVES! They are hardened to a higher Rockwell than throwing knives and will most likely break if thrown, possibly harming the user. So, do yourself and your ESEE knife a favor and DO NOT throw it. Using any knife not meant to be thrown as a throwing knife is idiotic! We would rather idiots not buy our knives.

Note: We do not warranty our 440C Stainless Steel knives from abuse. It should be noted that 440C is not as flexible as our carbon steels. Any excessive flexing will cause the knife to break.

We do not warranty against rust or normal wear and tear. Our carbon steel knives are made from 1095 High Carbon Steel. And while 1095 is a top choice for professional field knives, it will rust and stain if not properly cared for - especially on the cutting edge and around the laser engraving. It is the user's responsibility to keep the blades properly lubricated and cleaned. We suggest a dry film inhibitor such as TUF-GLIDE or TUF-CLOTH. We use a baked on powder coat on all of our coated knives. It is normal for the coating to wear with use.

NOTE: The warranty does not apply to the Lite Machete since the blade of the machete is made by Imacasa in El Salvador. With that said, if you have any issues with the Lite machete, contact us and we will do our best to make it right.

You must complete this form and return it with your knife. You must email us a tracking number and the reason you are returning the knife for warranty repair/replacement. The knife must be returned using a Priority Mail Box. We suggest you email us before returning the knife since we do not warranty normal wear and tear.

Randall's Adventure & Training only guarantees and offers customer service on knives built by ESEE Knives (Formerly RAT Cutlery Company) and any knife manufactured by RAT Cutlery Company before the name changed to ESEE Knives. Randall's Adventure & Training does not guarantee or offer any customer service for knives that are manufactured by any other company. Randall's Adventure & Training does not guarantee or offer a warranty on any knife manufactured by Ontario Knife Company. Please view the history page for more information."

now, while they say they anticipate their folder to have the same awesome warranty that their fixed blades have..... the loophole could be the 440c and any other stainless steel they use since it isn't covered the same as carbon steel.

I REALLY hope this is coming with 1095 or another tool steel

Hopefully we find out in the next few days sometime during shot show!!!

Exactly!

ESEE has a nice warranty but it's filled with too many "buts".

No it isn't. It's great, compare ESSE's warranty to almost any other production knife company. ESEE has way fewer "buts", I can pretty much guarantee it. The only "buts" are for the Lite Machete. The rest of the lineup is 1000000% covered by the warranty.

So did the Izula folder get announced at the SHOT Show? Curious minds want to know . . .

Eat that "guarantee" when you read the words:

That nonsense about throwing is just that, nonsense.
Hmm... Busse and Scrapyard and Swamp Rat warranty their knives (and axes, etc.) against throwing, and they warranty 154CM and Elmax and D2 models (and INFI which is actually pretty corrosion resistant). Survive! doesn't include any language in their warranty against throwing and also offers models in stainless steels... Any such wording in the BRKT warranty? (although tradition holds that damaging any BRKT is your own fault however it happened)

So ESEE's warranty only covers under-hardened cheap spring-steel but declares you an idiot if it breaks during tasks which shouldn't break any knife of such build. Those 2 things alone are big enough "buts" to turn me elsewhere. Face it, Becker and Buck and Gerber and the rest all offer fairly comparable warranties to ESEE given how the warranty is worded and executed. Buy'em because they're well-made or because you like the design and the price isn't as high as some. But the warranty - that's only good if the knife fails you.

I'm not here to convert you into an ESEE fan. It all comes down to personal preference. I personally love ESEE knives. An ESEE was my first "nice" knife. I feel confident in their warranty, it allows me to use them without reservations. That is part of the appeal for me. I like the fact that they have confidence in their tools. They are also less expensive then Busse and the majority of other competitive options.

I have no experience with the Stainless line of knives or Lite Machete. However, I own almost their entire line-up of carbon steel blades. They are fantastic! There is nothing "cheap" about them. You're way off base with your accusations. Thousands of customers can attest that ESEE knives are more than capable for any challenge. Unless my comprehension skills are deceiving me; ESEE, will replace the knife even if broken by means of throwing. I don't understand why you brought it up. It holds no merit. They are being professional and warning you to the fact that the knife wasn't designed for that task. I agree with what they have written. If you throw an ESEE knife you are an "idiot". A cheap set of throwing knives Will perform exponentially better.

You brought Gerber and buck into the conversation. For being so picky about ESEE's use of 1095, or "Cheap spring steel"; you make no mention of the alphabet soup used in most knives produced by Gerber and buck.

I specifically said "production" knives, when I was talking about warranties. I figured someone would bring up Busse and her sister companies. I don't know about you but I wouldn't consider Busse to be the typical "production" knife company. I still think ESEE is superior or at least equal.

P.S. Isn't brittleness caused by high Rock-Well scores? If that is so, how are they "under hardened". Please elaborate on that thought process.

I’m going to share with you the warranties of other competitive options:

Survive: "All SURVIVE! knives are warranted for life against defects in materials and workmanship. Additionally, if your knife should ever suffer significant unintentional damage, we will replace it with a comparable model for only the cost of shipping and handling.
SURVIVE! “knives are designed for use as a cutting tool, built using premium materials, to provide many years of reliable service. Use of a SURVIVE! knife for any purpose other than cutting is considered abuse, which is not covered by our lifetime warranty. SURVIVE! knives, like any tool, can eventually wear out. Keep your SURVIVE! knife well maintained for best performance and optimum service life. Blade coatings and factory sheath systems are not covered by our lifetime warranty.
Knives damaged due to abuse/neglect will be handled on an individual basis and will be repaired or replaced, at our discretion, for a reasonable rate. Please contact WorkShop@SurviveKnives.comfor all warranty, service or repair inquiries.”

Busse, Scrapyard, and Swamp Rat: “Busse Knife Group is proud to have the toughest warranty in the industry.
All Busse Knife Group blades are guaranteed for life against any and all unintentional MAJOR damage. Your knife will either be repaired or replaced at our discretion.
Please note that aftermarket modifications done to your knife outside of our shop that cause your knife to fail may void your warranty.
Busse Knife Group encourages extreme usage of our blades as they are without question "The Toughest Knives in the World". We have no rivals. You can use a Busse Knife Group blade as hard as you like and our warranty has you covered.”

Gerber: “Gerber product is warranted to be free of defects in material and workmanship for as long as the original consumer owns the product. At Gerber Legendary Blades’ option, defective product will be repaired, replaced or substituted with a product of equal value. For Cutting tools: Gerber Legendary Blades shall in no event be liable for any incidental or consequential damages. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damage, so that above exclusion may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.”

ESEE: “If you break it, we will replace it. Warranty is lifetime and transferable. In other words, we warranty the knife no matter how many times it's been traded, sold or given away - no sales receipt or proof of purchase required.

Bark River: "All Bark River knives and axes are guaranteed against manufacturing defects for life. If you have problems with our product, just return it to us and we will repair or replace it. If you would like us to refurbish or re-sharpen the product, please enclose shipping and handling fees"

If you need anything else; let me know.

Do Buck and Benchmade not have very similar warranties? It's not like ESEE is the knife maker of all knife makers. Calm down, as a non-paying member you're not setting a very good example yourself, though I'm not sure what membership level has to do with anything at all concerning how you conduct yourself here.
