ESEE Izula folder (for real this time)

Do Buck and Benchmade not have very similar warranties? It's not like ESEE is the knife maker of all knife makers. Calm down, as a non-paying member you're not setting a very good example yourself, though I'm not sure what membership level has to do with anything at all concerning how you conduct yourself here.

I don't think ESEE is the be-all and end-all of knives. There are many great manufacturers.

My computer is glitching, that is why there are so many "edited" posts.

i was interested but i'm not after seeing the prototype pics

the old design would've been a lot better imo

The old design had the lockup directly under the pivot.... wouldnt have worked

That could easily be fixed with a slight change. Hopefully ESEE decides to market to everyone instead of just mall ninjas and give us something similar to that rendering.

I think that saying Buck is equal to gerber in "alphabet soup" steel is a bit unfair as well.

Back to the topic - the folder looks good, not like an izula really but it will be interesting to see the final product.

Which, of course, brings me right back to the question everyone seems to be avoiding. Did ESEE announce the Izula Folder at the SHOT Show today? Yes or no.

I'll believe it when I see it. But contrary to the title of this thread, it ain't real yet.

ive said this before and i'll say it again...give me some G-10 scales and a stout liner lock and id be far more interested. I have no need for another small titanium frame lock...imo it looks more like a "gentlemen's folder" and nothing like what id expect of a folder sporting the Izula name.

I've gotta agree. This one doesn't appear to have the same pedigree as the fixed blade.

Eat that "guarantee" when you read the words:

That nonsense about throwing is just that, nonsense.
Hmm... Busse and Scrapyard and Swamp Rat warranty their knives (and axes, etc.) against throwing, and they warranty 154CM and Elmax and D2 models (and INFI which is actually pretty corrosion resistant). Survive! doesn't include any language in their warranty against throwing and also offers models in stainless steels... Any such wording in the BRKT warranty? (although tradition holds that damaging any BRKT is your own fault however it happened)

So ESEE's warranty only covers under-hardened cheap spring-steel but declares you an idiot if it breaks during tasks which shouldn't break any knife of such build. Those 2 things alone are big enough "buts" to turn me elsewhere. Face it, Becker and Buck and Gerber and the rest all offer fairly comparable warranties to ESEE given how the warranty is worded and executed. Buy'em because they're well-made or because you like the design and the price isn't as high as some. But the warranty - that's only good if the knife fails you.

Where does it say that throwing is not covered? Oh wait, it doesn't. They just don't want you to do it because it is dumb and if you want to do it please buy other knives.

Further, Esee's warranty is vastly different than the companies you mention. That is a plain and simple fact.

Perhaps go read the actual warranties. They are vastly different.

And further, 2015 looks like a good year for other companies! That ZT lineup is going to get my limited knife funds way more than what the Isula folder has turned in to.

I'd suggest it straddles the line between a gentleman's folder and a utility folder. And if ever gets released, my guess is that it will appeal to both sides of the aisle.

The Izula folder is simpler and more straightforward than any of the ZT offerings and appeals to me more than they do. If the Izula folder ends up weighing less than 4 ounces and the blade turns out to be constructed of D2, it's game, set and match for the Izula folder as far as I'm concerned. And if ESEE actually gets to the point of releasing the darn thing, maybe they can bring it to market in less than a year. I wouldn't count on ZT do that with any of their new offerings.

I use and like ESEE tools. But I find that my pair of Izula 2,s are enough. They are already so tiny that they disappear when neck hung or dropped in a pocket. If you feel a desire for one go for it, there is no need to justify your purchase to anybody. Life is short, buy it and have fun.
