Fine by me......

I could never get a sharp knife with my lansky. Maybe I need a new system, or new stones. I am bringing it along and maybe someone can show me the error of my ways.

I've used one a few million times... there are a couple little tricks to it. Bring 'er along and we'll figure out what's up.

lol. Yea, she doesn't need to know all that. Not sure I really needed to know that either. haha

You were gonna find out sooner or later ;)

I will continue to try to put together a fun and not-too-overwhelming Grind-In/knifemaking/sharpening seminar together. This ain't my gig, I'm just throwing ideas around.

Don't get too excited folks, it's gonna be very informal and mostly just for giggles. We'll just have to see how it goes.

If any other pro/semi-pro knifemakers have ideas or are interested in helping out, that would be awesome (HINT HINT!) It's not like I'm callin' y'all out, or I'm gonna call you a sissy if you don't step up and help these cats who want to give it a try...

Y'all know how to get in touch with me.

In other news, it occurs to me that I have not had any genuine maple syrup in far too long. I have essentially zero cash, but I'm open to trades...

Sucks i wont be able to make it. You should record that seminar LMAO because id love to see a video of how you sharpen.

Again, I don't speak for anyone but my own dumb ass, and it ain't my party. Honestly, I'm just looking forward to sitting around the campfire with all these rascals and listening to/learning from them :) I owe Ethan a lot, so I will show up just to say thanks and shake his hand again, if nothing else.

... but there are often folks at Ethan's Gatherings who have cameras and know how to use them. Not my place to "volunteer" that sort of thing...

I guess all I can say is, I'll be there and if anyone wants to see how I do my fouled-up grinds and edges, I'll be happy to show 'em :)

It would also be super cool if a couple other makers showed their way... unless they're skeered... :p

I could give a jimping seminar, and I think Murph will be teaching a beer guzzling coarse! Lol, I'm kinda busy with what all I got going on for Blade JT but, I'll see if I can scrounge up some stock for people to play with. As long a E dont care.

I'm still offering the lawnmower sleeping seminar if anyone is interested. Just bring a notebook and be prepared to take about a half-hour's worth of notes. Quietly.

So much to learn at this gathering. I'm definitely signing up for the beer guzzling and lawnmower sleeping courses.

I am interested in attending. I do not know the proper etiquette on how to proceed. Is there some fee involved? What further information do you need from me. Thanks to those who made this possible. I would thoroughly enjoy meeting Mr. Becker as well as the rest of the group. Moose seems like a nice guy, can someone send me a pic so I know who to avoid ;)

As far as a grind-in goes, I would be willing to share some of my limited knowledge as well. Caveat being, it's VERY limited.

Usual and customary practice for knifemakers attending their first gathering is to furnish a knife for each Beckerhead. That should cover any fees. I'll take one like the one in your avatar if that's okay with you. I'd avoid anyone that claims to be a moderator if you don't want to wind up playing a harmonica in a chicken suit while you cut firewood. Don't eat anything blue or drink anything clear. Sleep fully clothed and ready to run for it. I think that covers the high points, be great to meet you.

How come nobody told me knives was I all I had to give the first time I came. I still miss my index finger ya know. That's not right!!

Oh yeah, you're right about Moose. He's the best, just avoid making eye contact with him if he's wearing a kilt.

I was thinking O1 because, hey, who doesn't like O1? You are definitely in charge of the jimping class :D

All right, here's the deal with the grind-in... Ethan said OK, so it's on, baby!

I can bring some belts. Anyone else who wants to bring belts, let me know.

I just got off the phone with the fine folks at Alpha Knife Supply and New Jersey Steel Baron, and we're gonna have plenty of 1080+ and 1084 high-carbon steel to play with. THANKS Chuck and Aldo!

This is gonna be fun, folks! I'll start another thread soon for sign-ups and suggestions, and with more details.

Awesome, now I'm excited for the gathering instead of terrified of the gathering.

So, just to clarify; If I want to come I just come? I don't have to do anything else? How do I find this place?

Any of y'all bringing your Lodge Hibachi Grills?

I'm thinking of bringing at least one of mine.
