Ever have a knife you just tried and tried to love, but just never took?

Every Spyderco knife I've bought for myself :(

I try, I really but my New Year's resolution is to never buy another Spyderco knife for myself.

I just bought a NIB Spydie blue Stretch one hour ago. I'm gonna love it, but then, I'm a fanboy. I'm carrying a Southard.

However, I owned a 3" Slicer and a 3.5" Spanto XM-18 for no more than two weeks before I sold them both. More knife than I have any need for...and certainly way too much money.

Buck 110 and Sebenza for me as well. Just can't feel the love for the 110, even though it's a classic, and I have several. Gave the Sebenza away, fit and finish were fantastic, but it wouldn't hold an edge for love or money...

For me it's the small Sebenza. I cannot swing a full arc with my thumb to deploy it.

Condor Rodan for camping. Rave reviews, but I just found it to be too big and bulky. I much prefer using a small hatchet and pocket saw for kindling and a mora, or a BHK woodsman pro or a BRKT bushcrafter (60 RC!! Can be chippy if you abuse it, but thats what the axe is for) for fine tasks.

I can only recall two knives that I received and was absolutely disappointed by them. Really nice knives.... but when you don't feel it you don't feel it. Luckily for me most of the time the knives I buy far exceeds my expectations.

BM Griptillian - it just didn't feel right. I really tried to like this one but it ain't happening.
BM Contego - the ergs are weird for me. The handle/blade alignment throw me off.
Hinderer collaborations. I'd guess I wouldn't warm up to the real deal since that kind of knife doesn't suit my needs.
Haven't warmed up to an Emerson, yet.
Spyderco Military - not for me.

Benchmade Bone Collector. I LOVE this knife. It's beautiful, it cuts like a dream, the fit and finish and quality is amazing.
The issue is, I just can't get it into my pocket for some reason.
I think it's just the way it feels in the pocket for me.
I absolutely love the blade, but cannot carry it.
So both of the ones I've owned went to a new home.

Lots of downers on the Sebenza. I loved mine. I admit, I wasn't too keen on the thumb stud. It looks nice, but it wasn't my favorite. Loved everything else about it.

CRK Zaan, Sebenza, Spyderco Military. Great knives, just didn't work for me. Ended up safe queens. One flipped right when I received it. The Kershaw Tilt is about going that way soon as well. Find myself gravitating to the SNG and VECP always. One of them is always in my pocket.

Benchmade Bedlam
Benchmade 940
Spyderco Chokwe
Kershaw Asset
Benchmade 470
Benchmade Mini-Grip (love the full-size though)
Spyderco Endura 4
Gerber Covert

Swamp Rat Ratmandu - tried and tried and tried to like it but just couldn't get the love going. Never felt right in my hands.
Spyderco Military - again, tried and tried, and finally gave up and sold it.

BM Mini Grip, too short of a handle.
ZT 0550, not sure why I don't like it, just don't
Spyderco Barong, skinny handle, and not enough cutting edge.

BM Mini-Barrage. I loved the idea and the looks of the knife, but as far as carrying it and using it the features just were all wrong for me. AO was too powerful, grind was hard to get a good slicing edge on, handles felt like slick eels in my hand, etc. Just sold it recently to a buddy who loves it, just goes to show there is no knife that is perfect for everyone.

When I first got into knives and was into Nutnfancy, I took his advice and bought a Cold Steel Espada Large, and have not liked it other than fondling at home. It is impractical for EDC.

Spyderco Smallfly. Fugly and can't get comfortable with the weird handles, but keeping it regardless. ColdSteel AK47...don't know what I was thinking on that one.

Condor Warlock, i love the handle super comfy but it just lacked in other areas. For something thats primarily a chopper it wasnt really all that choppy and was outclassed by the Condor Golok and everything else i own.

Kershaw Blur. Nice knife, but just not for me. Didn't like the Trac-Tec inserts and I'm just not a big fan of A/O. Now one of those carbon fibre Blurs with the torsion bar removed does sound tempting... . Another nice little knife that isn't my cup of tea is the Kershaw Leek. I didn't care for the pocket clip positioning or the lack of a blade detent.

Regular size BM Griptilian
SOG Aegis...

Basically, the fundamentals of the knife are great, its mostly hallow plastic feel to them that makes them sit in a desk.
