Ever have a knife you just tried and tried to love, but just never took?

grohmann #4 stainless i hate the stainless this knife uses and the sheath. well made comfy steel sucks and sheath is worse

Strider smf was way too blocky and tactical looking for me. Also a little to big to comfortably cary.

I agree. I also had an issue with the clip position over the Hinderer stop. For some reason it always seemed to snap my jeans really badly.

I have to agree, when I first got into this knife buying, I thought it would be the right thing to do, and start out with a Canadian knife or two. There using 440 and AUS 6 steel is really old school.

Spyderco Military. Really liked the looks of the knife it's just not practical for my EDC. Its just too big and I didn't like the tip down only.

Spyderco police g10.
Can't say exactly why I didn't like it, but I was very happy to trade it off.

My Scrapyard War dog. It is just way to thick of a knife for its length and the choil bothers me.

Small Sebenza - love the fit and finish of CRK knives, but for the life of me I could not open the damn knives one handed to save my life (bought 2 of them)

Anything with the Axis lock - I just don't trust it and really don't have a reason why

Paramilitary 2 - Breaks my heart to say it as I love Spyderco, but it is one of the worst knives (owned 4 of them) I have ever bought (behind the small Sebenza)

It's kind weird saying it about the Para2 as the Military is my all-time favorite knife ever made

Zero Tolerance 0200 - I wanted this knife for years, but when I held in my hands I almost instantly knew that it was not going to work out. The weight and the ergos cured me from this irremediably love.

I'll once again chime in as well that I just can't one handed open that dang Sebenza! Not effortlessly and quickly anyway. However contradictory to your preferences I love the Para 2. Yet when I received my m390 Military off the exchange, just a few seconds in hand and I knew I didn't care for it and turned it right around.

So I love to deploy and can one handed open and close my Para 2, and Hinderer XM-24 (albeit with the flipper, no way with the thumb stud).

I've been eyeing the Chris Reeve Mnandi more and more, although I would want to turn around my Sebenza for the funds. Yet after reading all the Sebenza recommendations in the 'one edc for life' thread I really really don't want to part with it. Ahh aren't choices great!

I really can't understand people that say they can't open a sebenza. It's slightly different granted, but i have no problem deploying it as quickly as I need to.

For me the Lion Steel SR-1. Absolutely gorgeous but the pocket clip had a wicked hot spot and the handle seriously lacked grip.

After reading this whole thread, I went to a local Huge Sporting Goods Store (because I am out of town and don't know any reputable shops nearby) and handled the BM Griptillian and Mini-griptillian.

Everything said here now makes sense. My brain said it was an American made knife of respectable quality - but my hand was convinced it was a nine dollar gas station knife wrapped in injencted-molded plastic. I would NEVER shell out BM loot for ergos like that!

Thanks for letting me soak up all that collective knowledge of individual experiences!

ZT0560 for me. It was bigger than what I like to carry, and it just couldn't kick the Southard out of my pocket. Finally ended up selling it...

Swamp Rat Ratmandu for me. Tried and tried to love it but felt like I was whittling with an unwieldy pry bar. Back to my small thin knives...

Because God gave me a sweet spirit, I'm almost always able to find something good about a particular knife. Same things with kids, animals and cars. But not adults. They really irritate me.

I love that post. So great!

Flippers in general and the stainless bodied composite Leek in particular. Beautiful, sleek, and slim, with quality to match, but three things put me off. 1) felt dangerous to unlock and close one handed, 2) lack of grip on that sleek but slick metal handle, 3) assisted opening has only one speed - fast.

Flippers are fun to play with but the opening action feels less reliable than thumb studs, which are in turn less reliable for me than the opening hole pioneered by Spyderco.

I gifted it to a friend who loves flippers and had his favorite Leek damaged by a careless acquaintance who broke off the tip.

small Sebenza Insingo, but it is also on the $$ lower end of my collection, yet I see that Inisingo blade profile and I can't seem to get it rid of it....

KaBar Dozier 4059. I wish I had another so I could give it another shot, but they're hard to find nowadays.

Also the Browning Ice Storm. Sold it without giving it enough pocket time, I think, back when you could get them for ~$35. Now they go for much more on eBay so I probably won't get another.
