Having been greatly satisfied with Sharpal diamond plate sharpeners and a diamond rod sharpener from Sharpeak (subsidiary of Sharpal) in use, I ordered this Sharpal model 121N dual sided diamond paddle off the big river site. Diamond sharpening "blade" is ~4.25" long. At grits of 325 & 1200, it's a duplicate of one of my 8x3 plates. But I want to find out how much more/less difficult it will be to use setting or refining edges on blades large & small. It's shown with my longtime EDC Spyderco Stretch for scale.

The David Beaver custom I had ordered and posted about a couple pages back seems to be lost/stolen and USPS admitted as much
Third party insurance company accepted the claim and has already paid out.

If you’re shipping a knife worth more than a few hundred (or whatever your comfort level is), it’s totally worth it to go for the third party insurance!

That’s bad - sorry to hear this. This time of year is just generally not good to buy anything of value that needs to be delivered. Between the sheer volume of stuff being bought and sent and the resulting thievery, there’s just a huge risk of stuff getting ‘lost’. Glad you were covered, but still, a true custom anything is at best not easily replaced.

Well better late than never . . . after spending 5 days in LA & AR & 2 more days in transit, the package finally arrived in CA. 🤷‍♂️

Another one that's rarely seen these days . It's a DLC Black Kershaw Tilt that another BF member graciously offered to sell me when I mentioned that I was looking for one in my also recently acquired 25th Anniversary Tilt post.

Just off the front porch. The Chaves was an add on for my trade. Don’t really care too much for it but I was after the Quiet Carry Waypoint. I’ve got its little brother and wanted the big brother with textured scale.

Terry, what is it that you don’t care for, regarding the Chaves? Which specific model is it? I immediately thought that it was a great looking knife, when I saw your picture. I was surprised as I read that you didn’t care for it. Just curious………

I was huge into Chaves knives for the longest time. Had 4 customs from the man and plenty of production. Then one day I just changed my mind. Don’t ask. I have no idea why. I sold the customs for a tidy sum and still have about 8 productions left. 4 of which are the Kickstop flipper and I still kinda dig those. So in short: I have nothing against them other than I lost my mind???? Yeah call me crazy. 🤪

I've always loved the look, but they don't fit my hand right. And yea, the kick stop is just plain fun!
