I've gotten into small knives lately. I really like the utility and ease of carry off these small pocket scalpels.

My current job limits blade lengths to less than 2.5” so I’ve really come to appreciate small blades. Here are some of my favorites.

The little 1” McBee handles 99% of everything I need a knife to do on a daily basis.

I finally managed to get my hands on a Shirogorov Quantum. I've bought a lot high end production knives over the years (Chris Reeve, Hinderer, Strider, Grimsmo, etc.) but this is the first time I've gotten something in hand that just hit me completely different. I really can't put into words how much this knife clicked with me. If I had to sell all of my collection except for one tomorrow this could truly be my "one and only" knife for the rest of my life.

Just received a Kershaw Shallot 1840CBZDP (composite) that I've been searching for for a long time. No box but in excellent condition.

Paid top $ for it because it has been so hard to find, which is surprising considering that (based on an unverified source), there were were reportedly 1200 of the 1840CBZDP made, while it was easier for me to find the 1840ST110V (300 made), the silver damascus 1840DAM (618 made) and the black damascus 1840CKTDAM (501 made).

This brings my collection of Kerhaw Shallots to 8. From top to bottom they are the:

1) 1840
2) 1840ST
3) 1840ST110V
4) 1840DAM
5) 1840CBZDP
6) 1840CKT
7) 1840CKTST
8) 1840CKTDAM

The only one still missing that I hope to add to the collection is the 1840110V (600 made). Hoping to find one sooner than later. ;)

BTW: There are reportedly 2 other Shallots -- 1840DD (black w/a Daniel Defense logo) and 1840VIB (Rainbow - 529 made). Not interested in the 1840DD because, apart from the branding, it's no different from the 1840CKT and not intereted in the 1840VIB because I really don't like the rainbow design.

PS: I also have a "seconds" version of the 1840CKT XXXX (not pictured) that I keep/carry as a user.

Lol, I’m coming to the end of a full week of carrying Le Thiers/French made knives and late last night I somehow inadvertently stumbled upon what I believe is a brand new Le Thiers model from Fontenille Pataud.

That’s about as clear of a “sign” as we can ask for, right? I mean, I had to buy it…didn’t I?

Anyway, I think I’m really gonna dig the mid-back lock. Regardless of whether or not my wife buys the whole “it was a sign!!” explanation, I just couldn’t pass it up.

Went with the third one down in Royal Ebony with a Suminagashi blade. Should arrive Tuesday.
