Everyone's latest acquisitions!

Just received a Kershaw Shallot 1840CBZDP (composite) that I've been searching for for a long time. No box but in excellent condition.

Paid top $ for it because it has been so hard to find, which is surprising considering that (based on an unverified source), there were were reportedly 1200 of the 1840CBZDP made, while it was easier for me to find the 1840ST110V (300 made), the silver damascus 1840DAM (618 made) and the black damascus 1840CKTDAM (501 made).

This brings my collection of Kerhaw Shallots to 8. From top to bottom they are the:

1) 1840
2) 1840ST
3) 1840ST110V
4) 1840DAM
5) 1840CBZDP
6) 1840CKT
7) 1840CKTST
8) 1840CKTDAM

The only one still missing that I hope to add to the collection is the 1840110V (600 made). Hoping to find one sooner than later. ;)

BTW: There are reportedly 2 other Shallots -- 1840DD (black w/a Daniel Defense logo) and 1840VIB (Rainbow - 529 made). Not interested in the 1840DD because, apart from the branding, it's no different from the 1840CKT and not intereted in the 1840VIB because I really don't like the rainbow design.

PS: I also have a "seconds" version of the 1840CKT XXXX (not pictured) that I keep/carry as a user.
I have some 1840 110V Shallots, but I converted them to Snap Ons.View attachment 1611735

Just curious. Why did you do that?

Whatever the reason, if you ever want to sell one in its original condition, PM me. Thx!
I did it to reduce the weight of an all steel knife. Aluminum is 1/3 th as dense as steel, but it doesn’t make a good leaf spring. So 1 side of the knife is Al and the other is SS. Some frame lock knives put Titanium on the lock side and Carbon fiber on the other side to reduce weight.

My new additions are the MXG clip & Gray Precision disk for this ZT 0640. They really made this good knife great to me.

A few folders with modifications that I like.

Chris Reeve Small Sebenza 21
- Hawk clip from CRK
- Titanium full backspacer

Zero Tolerance 0640
- LMF micarta scales
- Bronze anodizing by USA Made Blade
- MXG Gear clip
- Gray Precision Monster Thumb Disk

Spartan Harsey Folder 3.25
- Anodizing by previous owner
- Sharpening choil

How do you like the 0640? I've never had a thumb risk opener. Maybe I need to try one.

I’d recommend one. I mostly carry Chris Reeve & Hinderer stuff these days but the 0640 compares very favorably with those. It’s a larger folder but very sleek at the same time. I don’t think the enlarged disk is absolutely necessary but I like the knife much more with it. I also like disk openers in general. However, I do not recommend buying an actual production Emerson from EKI.

I'm not really into "tactical" knives, and don't like G-10, so Emerson has long been off my list. I do like the way the 0640 looks though. I'm thinking about picking up a ZT 0562 Ti from USAmadeblade with the stars and stripe engraving.

Awesome collection of shallots! I only have one, they were on there way out when I started collecting but I love em, probably my favorite ken onion design.

It was a very good new knife night for me with both being Home runs in every area.
First SMKW exclusive Pena X Series Barlow Burlap Micarta frame lock front flipper that can also be pinched open because of the wharncliffe blade and what a knife ! Then a Boker Trapper with Beer Barrel oak 👍🏻
Beyond words happy with both so I will just move on to pictures to share my excitement:)

So Saturday night I was enjoying a couple of pours of Bourbon was bored so I decided to start looking at knives and today this showed up. Started looking for a Hinderer Jurassic and Medford Slim Midi but couldn't find anything I was willing to pay for, so being in the buying mode I wasn't going to bed before buying a knife so I turned to old reliable the ZT 0562. The crazy thing is I've purchased and sold this knife 2x before, maybe 3rd times a charm. 😁

My first Spyderco. This PM2 is pretty good. Compression lock is amazing. I've had plenty of good production folders, Benchmades, ZTs etc and most of my focus has been mid techs but this is a keeper. What took me so long to get one? I wasn't sold on the Spidy hole and flick.....I am now.

I've decided that knives are kind of like SUPER addictive potato chips: there's not stopping...
I finally ordered a Mini-Bugout to add to the pile...
Once the Mini-Grip and Dragonfly arrive: I'll have to find a new place to start hiding them!

I'm starting to see my own future here. At some point you're going to have a Trouble with Tribbles moment of a wall panel falling out, under the weight of all the knives stacked behind it. :-)

People who know me, know I have a few knives. People who know me intimately, know I have a lot of knives. When a someone sees a bunch of them and asks me how many I own, I tell them more than Jupiter has moons but much less than Imelda Marcos had of pairs of shoes. The moons of Jupiter is a good comparison, because we're always discovering new moons there and I'm always discovering new knives I want to buy.
