Experience with ZT Warranty Service

He's also trying to misrepresent a ZT employees statement. In one place he says the employee said he could see a slight variation in the grinds (very common on production knives) but that it was in spec. In another place, in a display of WOEFUL ignorance, he claims the knife had two completely different grinds on each side (hollow and convex). Now he's claiming the employee saw what he was complaining about and chose not to rectify it.

There is definitely more to this story. I'll put money on it right now that we will NEVER, EVER get pictures of this knife with grinds so far out of whack. We will either get pics in which we all have a hearty laugh at the ridiculous nature of the claims, or he will come back and claim ZT replaced the blade because magically the grinds don't look so bad...

Your fingers to god's ears. If it puts a properly ground 0450CF in my pocket, that's the last you'd hear of me on the subject. I'd even revise all my posts.

I said my piece and that's where it would stop if not for fanboys calling me a liar. You want to end it, stop calling me a liar.

You keep dodging the question:

Did you ask for anything other than correction of a QC issue? Did you request any special services other than fixing what you percieved as an imperfection?

I can tell you that there is bad customer service and then there are bad customers. I think it is very apparent which is the case here, particularly considering your frequent paroxysms in regard to this small issue.

I don’t recall one person actually calling you a liar. People have a problem with how you have conducted yourself.... not the story as it happened.
I'm not seeing that either. Let's everyone take a deep breath and a step back from the keyboard.

Why would you revise your posts when you were telling the truth?

If I were ZT that would be the last I’d like to hear from you too. Now I know why Amazon bans some customers.

He already admitted he asked for ZT to customize his 0450cf by adding a satin blade instead of the stock DLC...

No no no, I'm saying you are going to get the same exact knife back and either post pics and get derided or when you don't come through with the pics, you will TRY to claim ZT did replace the blade...

Having said that I didn't see anyone calling PT a liar, don't go making a liar out of me by insulting him now.

He has literally been insulting members since he brought these two threads up and naturally some people are being defensive. He brought back 2 Necro threads in an effort to get his message out...... why not simply start his own thread? He’s gone from bashing them..... all the way to post #82(which says it’s all). The rules clearly state necro threads shouldn’t be brought back and member insults will not be tolerated(we should all follow this).... so why not close it down, and let him start his own thread?

And the truth comes out...at least part of it. I'm sure that's EXACTLY what you said. I'd pay money to know how the actual request for special treatment went down.

Keep your money, brother, step by step:

Reason:Blade looks bent looking down the spine, a hollow grind on one side and convex grind on the other side while looking down the edge? If possible please replace with ZDP189 or satin s35vn, polished pivot screw, deep pocket clip & black backspacers.

"Hello Joseph,
Thank you for taking the time to contact us.
We will be happy to see what we can do about the blade. Unfortunately we are not able to aid in customization and will not be able to make those changes for you.
Thank you for your time and understanding.
Elizabeth Simon Warranty Service - Kai USA Ltd.

Perfect so far.

My reply: "Hi Elizabeth, would it be possible to add any of those items to the package when it's shipped back so I can do it myself? A deep carry pocket clip would be cool too. It could be our little secret and I'd never tell a soul. Thanks again, cheers!"

(doesn't seem too egregious, a simple 'no' or a request for payment would seem a reasonable response)

The rest was conducted over phone calls. Elizabeth calling me and saying they weren't going to replace the misground blade, me reading more bladeforum posts about how ZT will make it right, just give them a second chance. Me giving ZT a second chance when I called Elizabeth back, and was transferred to Dan and then transferred to Josh. I heard the change in his voice when I asked him if he'd be happy to receive that knife as a customer and it made my stomach hurt. There's your honesty.

Aaaaand boom goes the dynamite. Your credibility is as I said it..... zero, zilch, nada. You just shot yourself in the foot by admitting to trying to squeeze custom options out of a warranty repair. The story still seems to have something missing and your bringing all of these threads back seem to be used as leverage because your upset you didn’t get what you wanted.

exactly. honest good customers have to subsidize in the form of higher prices that these bad customers cost in false warrantys claims and time and other costs to the manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers. really no different than shoplifters...in costing the rest of us higher prices to subsidize it.

So when I get it back and post pics you'll have no problem apologizing, good to know.

Since “ZT is a big fat fail on all fronts” you should just get a refund and move on.

However, you now have a mission to sully their name and reputation every chance you get. It’s not an altruistic mission either but one of self-centered spite and revenge. All that reflects more upon you than anything else.

My posting about my experience on a couple of threads is slightly different than going out across the internet searching for ways to sully the good name of ZT. I like knives, I'm posting on a knife forum. If you don't like it, don't read it.

I will happily beg for forgiveness from you if the grinds are as bad as you claim. However, you really just shredded whatever credibility you had with that laundry list of customization requests...

Did you miss the part where I said all I want is a properly ground blade? Boom goes what dynamite, genius?

Wait, so asking for knife parts is an excuse for refusing to replacing a poorly ground blade? Anyone who has asked for a free pocket clip or new screws because THEY stripped them, or broke something, that's all good? But me asking for a different color pivot pin to be used when they replace the poorly ground blade, that's somehow egregious? Lol.

Serious question ... just curious but do you think that customer service is the proper place to request different parts or to get your knife customized?

Right here ..... you supplied it .... good luck lol.

Not to mention.... you have gone from sending the knife in for warranty, asking the dealer for a refund, asking for customization from ZT, calling them liars and bashing them when refused, and now your receiving the knife back? You’ll be happy as long as you get a new blade put in your knife? We’re not buying it

Yes, unabashedly, I do. Who else would you ask for parts if not the company that manufactures the knives? Am I somehow wrong in asking that?

no i wont. you already admitted to trying to get freebies you didnt pay for under a warranty claim. like it or not you just admitted to being exactly as i described what i was seeing. so thanks for that. quoted below for record.
