Can do!
My setup is more for final finishing than "mass finishing..." in other words I am doing a fast stonewash for a durable finish versus tumbling a freshly cut part to round the edges. (you need a big setup for that... Mr.Deburr is a good one I hear - about $3000+) Don't get me wrong, a long tumble will smooth things out but you want them sanded clean first.
Gear
Harbour freight vibratory tumbler
Ceramic media or plastic triangles in the tumbler - no more than half full
Soap, oil, windex, water, wd40 or something to keep the metal coming off in suspension
I go for a clean scratch free finish before tumbling - if there are scratches the tumble will just bring them out - 320-400 grit will do
I'm trying Sunsheen solution from Rio Grande next for keeping everything lubed.
Keep your media very clean, as soon as it gets dirty it won't cut.
I have the smaller of the two HF tumblers, it is great for knives up to 6." I'm going to get a bigger one or maybe a small cement mixer next for bigger knives.
More tips later!
