Yep, standard half sheet pan! Was nearly 4# when fresh! They're planted trout and don't survive the summers in the ponds, it's a regional park that hosts fishing derbies for kids and there's almost always lots of people fishing. Was glad I didn't bring just light tackle either, it would have been a hell of a fight on a light rig!

Thanks on the flipper guys!

Xander that is one massive trout! 4#!!! I have caught some bass approaching that weight and it was one heck of a fight. Nice pics on FB too.

Sloth no frickies yet... I had that one 95% done and slipped on a counterbore... recycling bin. kinda sucks, it was nice and had three days in it. I do have the one with some cool millwork going but need to finish up lot before I can get back to it.

Band! lol I'll play whatever but I can't sing!

5460 year petrified bog oak is in!!! It's almost too cool to even use and comes with stamped paperwork on the radiocarbon dating. I have been wanting a piece for a while now and was lucky enough to snag some recently.

VFD is in too! pricey piece of equipment but I'll need it for my new disc grinder build! :D I have everything now but the wiring (need to figure put what) and base plate which I will make.

Flex shaft - shaft is in! I snapped the old one. I also got a new carbide burr for texturizing folders. I have been practicing a bunch and this is going to be cool!

Thanx dude!

Careful with that bog oak, I've heard it carries the bubonic plague! Seems more than one knife maker has gotten pretty sick working with it. Got anything special planned for it?

Out here we have big fish, I've seen browns over 12#, I've caught largemouth over 10#, crappie over 2# and seen plenty of fat old hatchery trout from the ponds around here. Funny, when cleaning this fish I found live stone fly nymphs in its gut. I'm gonna take my fly rod with me next time! I have a few good stone fly patterns that should work well.

Rolf I got in the handle material... talk about cool! I'm thinking dive knife or hunter after I check it out. Thanks so much! Cool stuff, I like the feel of it. The bright yellow is rad!

Serious? Or is it like the "dino fever" you get from cutting dino bone? lol I bought 200 pounds one day and the guy told me that then cracked up at my reaction.

I think a Hunter or Fighter would be cool with the bog oak. I bought a huge piece a may get 2-3 knives out of it. Hunter, something small and I have a thin piece for something with liners or .25" scales.

I'm extremely impressed with the quality and service from Burlsource, he cut the scales for free and I got 3 scales from the piece.

Those are huge fish! I fished almost daily for years in TX stock ponds and have to say that is cool! I want to do more fishing here this year. maybe build that rod...

Nope, like actually sick. I get it from snake wood and presumably other rosewoods. Just a few seconds sanding with no mask and my throat starts to close up!

Ask Nick Wheeler about it, lol

Oh, almost forgot, got the trout in a foil packet and on the heat treat grill, lol! Lemon, butter, garlic, S&P and that's it. Doing it whole with head on too. Takes up nearly the entire top rack of my grill!

I'll get some pics of my dad's rod tying cradle next time I'm over there, the cool thing is you can find cheap rods at flea markets and strip them down and remake them with new eyes, handles, reel seats and different color wrappings!

HI guys!
Daniel- Great! I do not know what this stuff is but it might work!
yull have to figure out how to finish it or even if it has to be sealed but it might work for knives like you mentioned. I'll be curious to see what you do.
Have a nice weekend, DF Gang!

Morning guys!

Thanks again Rolf!

What is it from if you don't mind me asking? It reminds me a lot of this neoprene conveyor belt material I have used. More silicon or something though... unique material and looks promising.

I'll have to experiment first, see how it grinds and glues up. Cool stuff!

I've been on a CF kick lately but have a ton of cool micarta lined up too. lots of unique material and thanks to everyone here!

Sure you may ask. :D
My best friend was in management at Air-Products and they used to have all this material hanging around, Micarta and different polymers, to use at the plant. I do believe Roger said you should use epoxy to secure it to a handle.

Mornin' y'all.
X, that fish looks gooooood! I found a super cool book at a used book store on how to do all kinds of cool wraps on fishing poles and like a dummy I did not buy it.
Today is the day I have been waiting for, for a loooong time. My buddy is coming over to put my new computer together!!!!! WoooHooo! No more using a 10+ year old laptop!!!! I will finally be able to run CAD !!!!

Back in the shop today. Worked on two knives. Pretty sure I'll have a sore neck and thumbs tomorrow, haha.

It's gonna approach 60 today! Heatwaveee

Hope you're all doin' well!

Guys- Just so you know, I sent Daniel some vintage silicon/rubber material, in Yellow, for Danile to try on a dive/water or Ti knife handle. If It works, it will be cool. Stay tewned. :D
