Bobby, 60? I bet you are in shorts and flip flops...enjoy that heat wave.
New computer is up and running!!!!! With Auto CAD 2015!!! Now I just need to learn how to use it!
:p

Nice! I never got my head around the autocad suite... but I never really needed to either. SketchUp is enough for my needs (especially since there are cut list/carpentry specific plugins), or a CAD tools extension from Adobe Illustrator (which I use all the time anyway for work).

Cooled of a bit over the weekend, but I did get a chance to take Owen to the lake yesterday. He is casting really well - and is able to stick with it more than he was (before getting bored). We didn't catch anything, but it was good hanging out with him.

In other news...the dog is officially not a fan of micro-quadcopter/drones.

Autocad 2015... hope you have taken a class on it, because it is not just some point and click to figure out type of application. I took some Autocad and GIS classes at OSU and I was still a newbie after the fact...

And how the hell did you afford that shiz?! O_O

Lycosa, you mean to tell me you were able to figure out how to ship items O_O I guess that did not require uploading files :D

Hmmm sharps... what next.. where will they come from... how sharp will they be!! stay tuned@! =_= er tewned :D

That rocks!!!! Congrats! Is the computer a custom... I have considered building one. AutoCAD!!!! I can't wait to see what you do with it.

learning CAD was pretty tricky for me but well worth it... it is a lot of fun too

Very nice! Spring is in and it is a good thing. lol on the drone, I could see that!

Yo Sloth!!! Send me a pic of that frickie of you get a chance...

What's next - this week will be 3V tantos! ... and

2 of a new/old fixed blade design that goes back to my 4x36 grinder days... but never released as it was a file knife. Japanese style lines and double ground

I'm also going to finish up the two kitchen utility knives. If I can do all of that it will be a good week!

After that... a one off RF2!

newer stuff - Z-fiHit TJT's!!! I plan on 5 with Z-fiNit bldes from my current stock.

Also in the plans is a damascus mini-dashi run with leather sheaths and after that hopefully the new flipper I am working on.

I also have a big sale going at www.fairlyknives.com as I am down to it on KCT's. These are the last of the Ultralight KCT's but I have a new design planned! The new ones will be really thick and a variation of the current KCT... no shackle opener but three hex sizes for common bolts! Hex tool...

Hey guys!

Kev, try "L" then "enter" to start with autocad.... :D it's been a few years for me since I've done much in ACAD, but you know all the fun explosive things I designed with it, I can probably help you with exploding knives

It's Sunday evening, I'm out of beer, too late to justify going out for more. I could use some more.

Just been looking up some reloading data lately, gonna be doing some load development this year in .20 Practical cartridge. 4000 fps and 1/4 MOA accuracy with less wind drift and drop at 400 yards than .223. Gonna be a dog and squirrel destroying machine!

Hope it's been great for everyone!

Oh, Liam, you know the saying, the worst day on the water is better than the best day in the office! Glad you had fun!

X- Out of beer? That's BS.
Monday! Hit the ground, bit-chez!!
Hi Daniel.

Morning fellas,
Daniel I seen your post about forges. What are your plans forge small folder blades, bowies, ??? Whatever it is I'm sure it will be cool.

Hi Justin!

At first I want to learn on some smaller fixed blades then move up to bigger ones. Making my own damascus for folders and more is also a goal but not in the plans yet.

What I want to work up to making is Japanese influenced fixed blades (I'm a huge Jimmy Fikes fan), big gnarley choppers and other work in the "Neotribal" style... I'd also like to buy some of the Japanese layered steels that come in shapes more for forging and start using them.

No big change in overall style here, this is more of a side project or something completely different for now. I'd eventually like to be able to do anything I want when it comes to making knives and this is part of the evolution.

A DF forged Aikuchi would be way-cool.

Exactly! :D I can see it. Thanks Rolf!

Sup all ya suckas..?
I have no clue how to use this Auto CAD...yet. A class may be a good idea. As for affording it, I got super lucky and a super generous friend built this computer for me and bought me the Auto CAD... He has a really nice (well, as really nice as I can make) knife coming his way...someday.
Daniel, best of luck with your sale! I wish I could help clear some of that stock but I am supra poe but only poe is cash. I am RICH in everything else!

Hey guys!

Afaik, I'm technically still under a NDA on the stuff I worked on, but it was for the Hydra 70 missile. Was some fun projects.

Kev, since you now have a new machine, it will probably run youtube too. Lots of good learning videos on there. Where things get tricky is doing assemblies. I used Pro Engineer for assembly drawings because it was associative and parametric. Adjust the assembly and all related part drawings automatically update.

Rolf, beer problem solved. :D

It's just flat out a beautiful day today!

Hey guys! good stuff...

FBC I'm really excited about your new computer and CAD!

X we need to collab on a missile! You have that lathe right? I have some Titanium... :D

Yo Rolf! I've been researching the heck out of the forge thing and am excited! I think I am going to build one.

I've been researching something else even more though... a new mill! I just ordered a Grizzly G0759 with DRO and am as excited as it gets.

This is going to help a lot in the folder department with accuracy and more. I spend most of my time at the mill and it was my weakest link as the cheapest tool that I use a lot... not anymore though! This new one s going to ROCK!!! I should be a able to hit extremely tight tolerances like .0005" on a counterbore depth.
