It is funny, I thought making knives would be cheaper than buying knives.....boy was I wrong!!! More rewarding...yes. Less expensive..NO!Folders are coming up next! I ordered replacement bits, collets and some reamers... $300 handful of metal right there.![]()
I'm building a jig for counterbores, it will be cool! Regular HSS ones only last a few knives and I have been using a different (costly) method... this will be good. I was thinking of getting a bit with replaceable carbide inserts, lol $450-700 for one drill bit!
Big week ahead! Mill, forge and fiber press will e going ASAP!
Daniel, that seems awfully expensive for a bit, hell custom chamber reamers aren't that expensive and they're accurate out to .0001. Maybe check with Pacific Tool and Guage, they are the biggest maker. If you have a good mill, drilling Ti and other steels that aren't hardened like rifle barrels, I'd bet it would last years. I know that some chamber reamers last through many barrels. Seems that a counter bore bit isn't much different from a chamber reamer. Especially if you drill undersized and ream to final dimensions.
Afternoon y'all! Busy busy Monday as usual, but my last Monday with the company!!! I've finally gone ahead and made the info public, so if your on my fb, don't worry about saying anything!
5 days...
