Dropping him off at grandma's right now, he's headed to LA early tomorrow, the wife and I are trying to figure out what to do. No matter what, there will be alcohol! A DFK will also be accompanying me all weekend as well, I'm thinking it will be the Stinger!

Nice work X! That's what it's all about right there. Also I just ordered today a 4 foot bar of 1/4" 1084 from Aldo not sure if you could use ti but I could cut off a piece and send ya.

Kev, JP, thanks! Oh, JP, I have a few feet of .250 1084, it's specifically 5/32 thick I was looking for. The little one and I (the wife, I am 13" taller than her) are headed out to S.F. here in a few minutes.

Hey guys!!! Good stuff here... i hope everyone is having a great weekend!

I kind of missed today and caught up on sleep! lol I cast some Shibuichi this morning, made lunch then promptly fell asleep until just now.


The Shibuichi alloy I poured is 20% silver and 80% copper, it looks killer! The sandstone mold I located and cast worked well. I'll document the process next time and get you guys some pics of what I did today too. It was an exciting feeling when the metal turned to liquid under heat.

That's a great pic X, congrats to Xyler too! As a kid on a farm I was a fishing addict... the Sunfish are a lot of fun.

I'm working through the weekend for the most part... getting caught up on emails and shop stuff.

My forged tanto in W2 has a killer hamon and i got the Tsuka knots down! Sara told me I should keep it as my first forged knife... I know I want to! Pics later if I pull them off!

Rolf, That was before I saw that beautifully forged bit o tantoness. I think the DFK W2 forged tanto deserves its own week!

What's up guys! Had an excellent trip with the wife to SF, the boy ended up going to Disney Land with grandma while in LA! Everybody had an excellent weekend!

Guys... I think this DF folder is a GO. :) Ti blade too. Patience IS a virtue.
 
My wife once again commented on how nice her favorite knife is. For giggles, I made some 1mil tomato slices (not shown) to bake into chips - these were for the BLTs though.

Also - a ridiculous amount of fun - I got a micro camera and transmitter to put on an RC plane, but to test it, I mounted it to a small RC MiniZ... everyone in the creative department had a blast with the VR goggles on, driving it around. It's impossible to not just smile while doing it.

Daniel- With a folder design, will a CAD figure out the blade-to-handle or do you have to make a proto-type?
