Favorite Pen?

Reading this thread leads me to a question. I have a Rotring 600, roller ball. The refills cost a lot and dont seem to last a long time. What other refills fit in it? Is there a good gel ink refill? (Did someone mention the Parker G2 refill?) And lastly, where do you get them? Alas, our most stocked stationers is a Wal Mart.

You must be talking about the Parker gel refill? If so, I think Office Depot and Staples sell them on their websites. You can always order from them and have it delivered to your door if you cannot find it locally at Wally World.

my favorite pen is one I bought from Grayson Tighe a couple years ago, stainless damascus barrel, titanium cap, twist in & out. Its different but not flashy.

i like the g2 cartridges for writing-they're not very useful for sketching, as they put out a lot of ink, but they're very consistent reliable writers. i'd love a finer point on them, though.

My curiosity has gotten the better of me, as usual. What is a military pen, pray tell?

I guess that would be my Fisher Bullet Space Pen (chrome finish) and my Retro51 Tornado Elite (black finish). The tiny Tornado Elite is one cute little bugger, especially in shiny black.

I know what you are talking about with the Fisher refills.. I carry a Fisher Y2K chrome pen, and it looks great, but sometimes is a bit blotchy, so I replaced the ink and sometimes still get that. I think its from the pressurized system....

Neat though...I had been using a space pen on duty, but the clip broke...and I don't like how the clip is just a slide on...

Then I switched to a Fisher Military pen, nice, but then i lost it. :-/

I have found out that a Pilot G2 refill will go in any Waterman Rollerball!
I have ordered a stainless Waterman Hemisphere with stainless steel body and cap with a chrome trim clip.
Will post some pics when I get the pen.

I've got a soft spot for Pilot V5/V7 pens actually... They're beautifully smooth and its not the end of the world when you lose them because they're disposable. Feel free to mock :)

I love to use fountain pens and carry a couple with me in a small case that stays in my briefcase or is on my desk at home.

An early 40's Parker Vacumatic and Parker Sonnet with a calligraphy nib.

The Vacumatic is nothing short of a pleasure to write with. It was refurbished for me by Joel at ink-pen.

Grayson Tighe makes very nice ones (he is Brian's son). I have also handled quite a few of David Broadwell's pens - awesome.

Broadwells are beyond awesome. They are really really well made. And now we can add Allen Elishewitz to the list of knifemakers that makes pens. Pic of my pens by: Tighe, Elizhewitz and 2 by Broadwells.

Ive used the Fisher Telescoping pen, Pilot G2, Pilot V-Ball, and recently the Zebra 301. Out of all those, I like the G2 the most because it writes smooth, retractable, and relatively cheap.

After trying the Pilot G2 for the first time the other day I was really impressed with its gel refill.
I have now found a way to "dress up" that great refill:

The Waterman Hemisphere CT (or any other Waterman Rollerball) is a great host for the Pilot G2 refill.
See how the refills match:

A smart EDC that's also a great writer.

Parker VP and Parker Vacumatics.
My EDC pen is a Parker Reflex $6 fountain pen. Carry a Pilot Varsity Fountain Pen as a backup.
The Fisher is tucked in for extreme condition use

cross ion for me.

I bought this pen and carried it on its lanyard for a week. I used it.

I tried to love it. I really did. Didn't work out for me, however.

I'm still hooked on Rotring 600s. Tough as hell, they are.

If I had my no holds barred druthers, I would get a Tighe damascus pen. Brian's site has links to his son's mamazing pens.

Wow, this is an old thread!
I'm still using the two Space Pens I posted the crappy scan of over a year ago, but with fine refills. They write neater than the medium refills, but are prone to skipping, and I have to turn the pen a little to get the ink going again.
Not the best pens by any stretch of the imagination, but still my favorite, because they disappear in a pocket, which means I don't mind carrying one all the time.
For jotting down occasional notes, and filling out a check now and then, they're ok. Everybody who sees me use them wants one, especially the blue lacquer, which has held up surprisingly well.
