Hey Vance. Oh well, guess it'll be a Runt or Kephart. Or maybe there will be an overwhelming flood of encouragement for a kitchen knife run ;)

I want a guardless Woodchuck for food prep. I can't wait to find the right one. I've loved the natural ones that have popped up lately. But I think a colored burlap, loving the emerald green on the Nessie, would be really cool too, and I want it in 5/32 tapered, high-but-not-full grind.

runt runt runt

then kephart

I need a Runt before it'sover, just as a nice discrete edc at the zoo and what have you. But I really want a Woodchuck for my traveling kit. I think tucked into a tote with my little pots and pans and tiny coffee maker and small flatware set it wouldn't draw any unwanted attention, but would serve any need I run across out and about as well.

This Nessie is just too cool, it's sitting here as I type. :)

For all of you food prep folks, I just refinished these two... Then decided to cook dinner with them tonight. The pic doesn't do them justice, but they are at what I like to call the "oil slick" phase of a new patina. They're also oiled and ready for bed but out of the sink they look pretty insane.

Is that Camp Nessie sheath an RLo as well?

Thanks for the shots WJT! I have a Camp Nessie on it's way now (YAY!) and am psyched to use it as my camp knife. It looks like the great all-around camp tool. Wood processing and guardless for kitchen prep too. Thanks for showing it with the RLo. I'm trying to get ideas for what sheath to pick up for it.

What are the main differences between the camp nessie and regular nessie?

What are the main differences between the camp nessie and regular nessie?

Here's the description from the fiddlebackforge.com website for the Camp Nessie:

This knife has a Nessmuk resembling profile with a bit different function in mind. It is for camp duty, light chopping, and shelter building, etc. It would replace the small hatchet in a Nessmuk trio. It has a 4.5” long blade and 4.75” long handle.

No problem thurin; congrats on the acquisition-- that shade tree camp Nessie is SICK!! It is a beast equally in the kitchen or outdoors!

Andy Z. Yes, size and function are primary differences. It is bigger than the stock Nessie, less "slicey" and more "choppy". Mine is also super thick at 3/16.
