The black burlap of some has looked sort of purple to me in pictures. I just thought it was they way the image sensor was picking up the gray.

All of my sheathes are from Rick so I might be a bit biased, but the camp nessie sheath is awesome, nice retention, smooth draw, impeccable craftsmanship, etc.

The burlap seems to patina just like the blade. It has also gotten rougher over time. It was slick when I got it and now it feels like a fine sand. I love it! Mine had a purple hue early on and still kind of does. Super super subtle though. Took some pics tonight to show its current shades, I'll try to get some better pics tomorrow with sunlight.

I haven't had liver in ages, it's one of my favorite foods too, I'm going to the supermarket tomorrow!
 
Looking good guys! Tonight it was garlic & lime shrimp, grilled yellow squash, sauteed mushrooms, baked potatoes, and garlic & cheddar biscuits via the Nessie :)
