Fiddlebacks and Food

That pork tenderloin would pair well with a nice bottle of Pinot Noir......yum !

It was a girls day out so it was up to me to prepare dinner for tonight. Time to marinate some fillets and put a new Recluse in Denim Burlap to work in the kitchen:

The Recluse made quick work of prepping the mushrooms & broccoli.

The fillets were looking pretty tasty in the marinade:

It didn't take long for a nice patina to develop:

Time to start simmering the shrooms:

It didn't take long for the fillets to sport their stripes:

While the steaks were cooking I selected a nice Cabernet Sauvignon to compliment the meal:

Ready to chow down:

For our after dinner drink we enjoyed some nice Irish Whiskey:

We enjoyed our Jameson sitting out on the lanai taking in the beautiful sunset:

Had to sneak in and have one more drink before calling it a night. Why not capture a kodak moment along with the scandi KEB that I received today from Hasco:

That is a delicious looking meal Peter. The Recluse performed admirably in the prep role. Knowing you, I have no doubt that the wine was an excellent pairing. And that fancy whiskey bottle looks really cool.

Thanks for sharing the photos and making us hungry.

My pleasure Phil. The wine did turn out to be an outstanding pairing. Rattlesnake is a high elevation wine that reflects the unique nature of its terroir. The winemaker, David Tate does an excellent job. Susan and I got to meet him when we toured the vineyard. They also craft an excellent Sauvignon Blanc which is one of our favorites. As for the whiskey decanter its a Danish Holmegaard Kluk Kluk. It makes an interesting "glug glug" sound when you pour. The unique shape of the bottle gathers light in such a way that it displays the visual character of just about any colored spirit. Its come in handy when serving a nice single malt scotch. All in all it was a fun night !

Nice photos

Thanks Vance. You actually inspired me to pull this meal together after seeing that wonderful pork tenderloin that you cooked up on your K.J. My wife and I like to pair up pork tenderloin with Pinot Noir......yummy !

Very very nice Peter. You got recluses, meat, wine, and a sun set. Looks like a great day to me.:thumbup:Jameson is mother's milk to the Duder. What was that aerator contraption apparatus thingamajig that you had it in? That thing is uber cool.

I really like the colors of the shadetree recluse too.

Those are great, Peter. Mighty tasty looking meal! And thumbs up on the after dinner drink. Jamie and I have a longstanding relationship. Too bad I don't remember a lot of our nights together. ;)

The contraption is a Danish decanter made by Holmegaard. Aside from the way its blown, it makes a glug glug sound when you pour. As for the burlap on the Recluse, I inquired with Ken to confirm if the Blue Denim burlap was a Shadetree product. Ken replied that they sourced it from Cherokee. I believe he also mentioned they were checking with Fod to see if he could make a similar material. It's similar to the Rattlesnake burlap only with blue tones. Jameson.....Mothers Milk it is for sure.

Peter, it seems that in many ways, you are a man after my own heart. That looks fantastic, all of it :)

There are several things I enjoy with a little Jamie in the glass. First is the wonderful carmel bouquet, next is the smoothness on the palate and finally, it treats you pretty well the morning after. Memory loss perhaps, but at least you don't feel like you have a bag of rocks inside your head ;) Like JD inferred........Mothers Milk.

Hey Brian......what can I say other than you've inspired more than a few great looking meals yourself along the way

Hey, life is short. We must take time to eat, drink, and be merry along the way :)

Steak Night / Date Night with the Mrs.

We visited a local Ruth Chris steakhouse. Except for the loudmouth yahoos, it was a really nice experience.
I took along my new Tuxedo with a twist taper tang Asp I had recently purchased from USA Made Blade.
This will be on rotation as one of my regular EDC. Schweet knife!

Dessert .. an Apple Crust Tart w/a scoop of vanilla!
